Hmmm, I'm in America. I know here, you want to find a cross beam. Over there, you want the dome to be centered under two beams. I don't know how the construction works or the differences in building codes. Its very possible the lines in the drywall ceiling are where they nailed the edges of the drywall to the beams. If you can see two clear lines of nails or drywall edges the right distance apart, I'd say you can only hope for the best. If you tension the pole without support behind it, you could indent the ceiling. :-\ Good luck, I hope someone from the UK can shed some more light on it, this is all info I have gathered through reading and being around the forums a lot.

You should use a stud finder to find the joist, you can get one for around 5 bucks at a hardware store. The silicone should protect the ceiling if you place it under the proper support beam.

Tried Sally's, no dice, BUT I found some on Amazon!!! The shipping is a little riddiculous (5 bucks for a 3 dollar item) but at least I will finally have them.

Yes, I am definitely NOT a heel wearer. I am usually found in clogs (if at work) or sandals. Boots with heels are easier but still not easy. I have a back ground in ballet and jazz, so a pointed, uninhibited toe comes very naturally to me. I still want to buy a pair and try and just see what its like. But the monkey foot, it made sense, like for a climb, I was gripping with the front of my ankle/side of knee with the back leg, but instead of gripping with back of ankle with front leg as you'd do with heels, I was just putting the sole of my foot on the pole lol. I would also put my soles together and just sit like a froggy on the pole, you could never do that in heels, and its so much fun 😀

I do like bare feet for dancing, but so often the length the shoes add to legs make pole moves really wowsa. I also found that I was using the soles of my feet for some things like climbing and what not. When I did that in the studio, the teacher said I had monkey feet, and if I trained like that, I would never be able to pole in shoes because I wouldn't have my bare foot soles anymore. Your English is good 🙂

I did just that first day that the woman brought them to a flow jam. I spent all day trying to lift myself and wrap a foot. I asked the woman what I could do to build the muscles to lift myself, she said that pole was the thing to go for if I couldn't do silks. They offer a silks class now that isn't too far away (bout an hour) but I haven't taken it due to its cost. I recently bought an aerial hammock for my home and plan to take the silk stretch or silk fit hammock classes at my pole studio so I will know what I'm doing with them. I'm also intrigued by Lyra and that will be my next major dance/fitness purchase. I'm currently looking at construction plans to have a taller outdoor "swing set" design so I can get some silks that actually have the open ends and enough length to work with. Maybe I'll even have a lower one with a pole  with room for the hammock, and maybe some monkey bars and standard playground equipment. I need to put the breaks on dance purchases for a while though, bills call. I really want to get some heels and dance shorts. I always feel a bit frumpy in a tank top and shoes and bare feet.

Hi Frankline! I also came to pole after having silks spark my interest. I'm sure you'll have tons of fun here, everyone is wonderful.

I saw a pole in a dance studio once, but we were there for something else. I wanted to just try to climb it before I left, and as soon as I touched it it moved! I wasn't sure of why it was there. I think it may have been one of these. Should've seized the oppertunity. Or I would've just knocked an unsecured pole down lol. Still really cool.

Olive oil as a once a week mask is nice, also better if you can plastic cover/hairdry while its on your hair. Takes a lot of rinsing, I use my kitchen sink because of the sprayer hose thing. I do not like apple cider vinegar as a cold rinse or shampoo option, it burns my scalp, but that’s just me. Tried the mayonnaise thing, waste of time in my opinion. But I liked the olive oil. Left my thin hair feeling full, and very shiney but not greasy at all.

One thing. It is more important that the upper done is absolutely flat on the ceiling than the pole is 100% vertical. If it is not 100% vertical the base will take out any alignment issues but it the done is not flat pressure will be put on one edge which again loads up the shaft/insert. We do have rubber 0- Rings on the bearing unit to allow for any very small alignment issues but not to cope with any major ones.

Yeah mines an April 2011 50mm. The email I got from xpole said they were able to correct very minor unevenness for the ceiling dome but not meant to compensate for any type of large issue. Maybe it just needs a little bit of working in, though I’ve assumed you tried that…

Someone made a comment that made me think 289 was a promotional price and 389 is “regular”. Can’t rember where I saw that. Maybe the 40mm vs FlyGym thread….

Mine does not have these rubber rings on them. I've been talking to Xpole about problems with my pole and the person mentioned them, but they're not on mine. Weird…. Maybe thats why its a problem, cuz they said they're sending me a new one of that piece. *shrug* mine has always just dropped right into the tube and you put the dome on top *scratches head*
