This is what the ceiling looks like: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mppgphpo3fparw1/Photo%2029-09-13%207%2021%2022%20AM.png
This is the only photo I have on my phone right now and I won’t be home until later tonight.
I’m not sure if this is what you were mentioning about joists poledanceromance, but the ceiling is kinda flimsy in between the beams- but those beams seem to be pretty sturdy.
Would that adapter be the best bet, Veena? I’ve never even heard of an adapter before!
Might have a look at lunch today

As in the pole then screws into the ceiling?

Since I'm only a beginner there might be different needs, but at my pole class last night, we did a 20-30 minute or so warm up/strength session followed by pole moves in that time we went over what we had learnt last lesson and then two new moves. After that was a 5-10 minute warm down (an hours class).
But as I said – that's (absolute) beginner levels

Thanks TLizzard! I will try the retainer when I can find it again

No it wasnt. before I had a cheap $8.00 metal one in (not entirely sure what it was), and then when the stone kept falling out I swapped to a plastic retainer. I now have the 9 carot gold small stud in

Definitely cool but very old school! But he tries. I remember we once taught him the lyrics to Sk8er Boi and he would sing it to us and we’d be in gales of laughter.

I told my grandparents I was doing pole (they saw the bruises on the back of my legs) and I expected quite a horrified response from my grandfather- he is very old fashioned. He just turned to me and said “good job babe. I’m glad you’re doing something about getting healthy” and that was the end of it. Not the reaction I expected. He now frequently asks how I’m doing with it, have I learnt any new tricks, here’s some tips for blister and bruises, send me your videos. And he even saw my pole and tried his hand at a pole walk.
There was no ick factor for him at all and he was quite excited I was finally doing something about gettin myself into better shape.

Thanks Cali! I absolutely forgot about Amazon!

I can’t find where to buy the vado or the flip? The direct links on the site don’t appear to be workin for me… Though they look pretty good. I like that the USB is part of the camera. I will keep looking

Yeah I’m not in a giant rush to get one. I was just wondering whether it’d be worth the investment. I was curious as to what other polers use. I know you can get some pretty good deals, but I wanted to ask the more experienced polers what they thought!
Seems the camera is the way to go 🙂

I go to one in Revesby. It’s really nice, I mean I’ve never been anywhere else but really friendly and really encouraging.
I suppose I could ask her if they could switch.
I just changed my home pole to spinny and I think I like it better. My skin seems to rebel at the static pole- that might be because I’m bigger though? I know my knee lock isn’t right but I just can’t manouvre my leg into the correct position. I dunno.

Mine is the old style Xpert and I can’t undo it- but Dad can. He just undoes it. I just assume its because he’s stronger.

Thanks Kambrose for the information! I’m gonna have to convert all this oz in liters and work it out, I know water intake is something I have to increase- bought myself a pretty water to help!

You are a super star!
Thank you very much for helping me 🙂 I always worry about what foods I’m eating but just assumed I was doing okay, I’ll keep it all in mind next time I’m grocery shopping- bit of a budget so I’ll see how it goes! I really appreciate all your help -
I have to admit I get bored of health food. Maybe it’s because I don’t know recipes or something but I’m a girl that loves her macaroni and cheese, bangers and mash, lasagne, burgers, nachos etc ( which explains my body shape haha) and I don’t like going without those foods for very long- I tried no bread for a while and I couldn’t do it either

Hi Koidragon,
My exercise (before pole) was doing Zumba wii for 20-30 minutes 3 days a week (or so) and around 50 minutes of Resistence bands 1 day a week. Though I didn’t have a schedule and my time varied each time I did it depending on how late to work I was running.
Since I started pole I stopped the two things above because I didn’t know how intense it was, but I was doing the 30 Day Take Of every day until about two days ago when I pulled something in my shoulder and its restricting some movement and causing pain. Will have to see a chiropractor or something to fix it.
I was also trying the couch to 5ks problem which was 30minutes of interval running and included 5mibure warm up and warm down- I did that most days for a little while until it turned into winter and was raining all the time

Thanks Pankake!
Everyone has been so so helpful! I thought I ate fairly healthily- I mean I have bad days, I’m an emotional eater and a bored eater (unfortunately!) so sometimes I’m a HORRIBLE eater but I’m getting better at quelling that.I like the idea of substituting what I like eating with something slightly healthier. As stupid as it sounds, I’d never thought of that.
I like Zumba, it feels just like dancing around in the house in my underwear, except I’m wearing work out gear and I’m following a routine!
As for the high and low end of my weight I’ve never been healthy. So my high end is 110kilos and my low end is 96 kilos or so (bad I know) so I would like to get down to about 75-80kgs which is going to be a lot of work 🙁 wish it was as easy snapping my fingers!!!

Actually I do have a question regarding food if anyone could help while we’re talking fitness. A typical day of food for me is this:
Breakfast: a serve of yoghurt and fruit/toast ( english mugfins erc) and spread with a glass of milk or juice
Snack: If I have one- yoghurt/musli bar/ fruit
Lunch: usually a sandwich/roll with chicken and salad with a can of soft drink (used to be a bottle trying to cut down)
Snack: if I have one is same as previous snack
Dinner: is a lot of variation actually, sometimes I have a cuppa soup with or without a bread roll, or one of those frozen meals – lean cuisine or whatever.
Very rarely had desert

Thanks for that!
Though I’m a bit nervous of that for me considering I can’t do things such as the pole hold consistently yet. Would it work for anyone do you think?
I feel a bit silly asking so many questions.

Moonlite- I was on Tony Ferguson but stopped that and increased all my exercise and started eating better. People keep saying I’ve lost more since I stopped TF (2 months ago) but there has only been a 2 kilo difference in that time so I assume toning up a little is helping (though my belly is still wobbly!), especially in my calves, I can notice my calves are more toned

Thank you to everyone who has replied!
I assumed there was some cardio involved – maybe my misconception came from the “dancing” part of the word.
I’m big, so I assume for right now all I would really need to do would be pole but I would plateau pretty quickly. I guess short class of Zumba, pole and resistance bands it is.
I was actually starting the couch to 5k- I stopped because it has been raining but I might start that up again.
