I must agree with Veena on making your own hoop. I bought a travel hoop from Hoopnotica and it was useless after taking it apart and putting it back together 3 times. Pieces started to come loose and the hoop would wobble too much. I also bought a regular hoop from them and it was awesome for about a month. Now, it keeps coming apart at the connector. I mean, I’m just learning so I dropped both of the quite a bit, but still…I made my own and haven’t had any problems just yet.
Best site for making your own hoop is http://www.jasonunbound.com/hoops.html. The 160 psi 3/4" tubing is awesome and just like the Hoopnotica hoops, but hard to find. I ordered mine online from Lowe’s and then picked it up from the closest store. I got my tape from http://www.identi-tape.com/hooptape.html. It was annoying to tape the hoop at first, but then it starts to become really fun!
Hooping is awesome and I use it as a warm-up every time before I pole. Plus, I’ll always just come home and randomly pick it up just for a second and then end up hooping for at least 20 – 30 minutes. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif It’s the most motivating cardio I’ve found so far!

Do you know what kind of breathing techniques she uses? I’d definitely like to learn some of those! It seems to have improved a little bit on moves that are easier, but handstands are still ridiculous! I honestly look like my head is about to explode. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

Have you tried the 30 Day Shred video she has? It’s incredible!!!! If you really stick with it, you can easily notice a difference in a week. It’s incredibly hard and I literally just had to force myself to move onto Level 3, but it is definitely one amazing workout. Plus, it’s short so it is definitely manageable. That’s really the only video of hers that I’ve tried, but I might have to check out the No More Trouble Zones. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Wow everyone! Thanks for all of the help. Now I’ve got some new things to focus on! I’m noticing that this being able to do moves on both sides is a big deal. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

I have been practicing on my weak side, but can definitely improve. I’ve never heard of this dead lift. Does Veena have lessons? Or YouTube?
Thanks for the suggestions!!! I honestly never thought to perfect my weak side first. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

It’d be really awesome to have some more lessons for simple spins. I’m done with the beginner section and most of the intermediate, but I can’t really progress too much further just yet. It’d be nice to have some more beginner/intermediate spin moves to practice until I build enough strength to continue to advanced. I would suggest specific moves, but I don’t know any. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
The only one that I’ve heard talked about and have no clue what it is is the rockstar spin.
