However being able to walk down the street without a bag on your head cos' you didnt mess it up……..priceless! 🙂

If your naturally dark brown? Hmmm…. you could try the lemon juice as a natural alternative , Lemon juice and lots of sun .With my hair it had a very drying effect so you would need to condition like crazy! Ive heard avacado's can make a good conditioning mask for hair, ive yet to test this.
Lemon juice – For me the effects were subtle but noticable – nice, but time consuming at the same time. Im too impatient, lol!
Perhaps wait until your hair is long enough and get your bangs chopped off, then you can start over again ,a fresh canvas so to speak! Newly grown undyed hair always looks best.
Good luck experimenting, my biggest hair "faux pas" was turning myself a radiant shade of Teal!!! Not intentionally- beware of home kits, well ,in my case any way…
