Hey Polerbaby, did you hear about the pole showcase Sunday night? We have 10 polers and some other acts, wanna be in it?

I have taught classes with only 4 poles and 3 to a pole…it’s a different teaching style and I did find that for me I felt like we focused more on tricks than movement. This worked fine. I had a lot a huge percentage of retention and the girls made friends. It was a good environment. The bad things was classes were 90 minutes, sometimes longer and the major issue was people coming late or having to leave early.
When I began teaching at PoleFIT I saw the opportunity to teach movement and teach pole DANCE and I requested that classes be shorter 60 minutes and only open to 1 student per pole. I make less miney this way but I am able to provide a product I am really proud of. I am really proud that my students learn tranistions and floor work.
I make everyone do a warm up dance and we take time to learn how to get into the music…we do also work on tricks…I find having this type of class allows me to work with multiple levels of ability and give one to one attention.
If I had more than 5 students I would certainly get an assitant/intern.
I think there are many ways to structure a class that works, I am just wondering WHY the 1/pole is unsafe.

I know there will always be lots of people that don’t understand, but until I’m NAKED on my pole and posting pictures of it on a site that doesn’t allow nudity, then I fail to see how I am violating their terms.
EXACTLY! If girls can upload hot sexy images in bikini’s on the beach and such then clothed pole dancers should be allowed too.
Me and Qulia violeated the terms by being too hot for photobucket!

Photobucket is another good photo uploading site… so is flickr.com. Both of these sites can be set to private, but I don’t know if they can be made so that select people can view it.
Be sure you have your photobucket set to private I had several pictures removed from pb because apparantly two people on a pole is against their terms.

The response to the showcase has been amazing!
We are still looking for perfomers/polers and they don’t have to be detroiters. This is an event to appreciate ALL SKILL LEVELS – one of my newer students is doing it and she’s been dancing just 10 times! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Empy is performing! Bertysbooboo, Serzi, Kristen, a set of twins of who do a doubles act, I have a hooper, a burlesque dancer and a belly dancer lined up as well. In total we have 10 confirmed pole acts and 2 non pole acts and I just announced this on Tuesday!

Problem is they do not actually look at the images they just remove them. Theoretically you could flag a pic of a cute kitten and they would remove it.

My one encounter with the first belly dancer we interviewed left such a sour taste on my mouth that I am not even sure I want to include it on our schedule. No dance form should be able to tell people when, where and how they can perform.
I really wanted to learn belly dance too. I took a quick little kids class and thought it was extrememly challenging. I love the way it could compliment my pole dancing…I’m just not ready for the drama.
I was really surprised to hear a belly dancer tell me that she didn’t want to be thought of as a stripper…none of my clients would want to be thought of as a stripper either. And ultimately as WOMEN we need embrace each other, stripper, belly dancer or pole dancer and stop drawing lines about who is and who is not too sexy.

We interviewed a belly dancer who refused to be filmed in our studio because of the poles. I basically told her to hit the road. She said if she danced on video – mind you she would be belly dancing NOT pole dancing – but having the poles in the room would be disrespectful to her and all bellydancers.
I basically said if ou feel you would be dishonored by being filmed with a pole on the background or a pole related logo then you obviously do not share our mission and goals. You are being disrespectful to us and our clients.
