First of all there is no reason you can’t start on a free standing pole. Many have learned on this type of pole.

So with that being said, you will have to get used to the movement of the pole which can be uncomfortable to beginners but with time and some practice you will learn to dance and deal with it. The X-stage is VERY sturdy and the pole movement is not as bad as others.

Secondly, you can get a regular X-pole and put it up in your garage – you’ll need extensions and a board to that goes between 2 of the joists and is nice and thick and sturdy. So it’s up to up to you which option you want to go with but you can do either.

    Hope that helps!

I am already impressed with Peter’s level of customer service. I wanted to carry this in our studio but I also wanted to check it out first and within minutes Peter was back to me and agreed to send us some samples! AMAZING!

Does anyone know if this would be good for aerial arts?

I have 2 perspectives on this.

    1) the self taught dancer – I had to relearn a multitude of things as I went because I just did what I saw someone on youtube doing adn they were doing it wrong, I was taking advice from other self taught dancers who hadn’t really broken moves down correctly. I pushed my way through moves, not spending the time on them they desrved or respecting how difficult they are to truly do not get but perform them properly. I had no idea what I should be doing when, what move was a precurser for what.

However, I recommend self teaching over BAD STUDIO TEACHING and here are a lot of those out there too. Researour studio, what are theri certifications, how long have then been teaching, how long are their classwesm how many students to a pole? What are you learning? Stay clear of school that brag you learn 50 moves in a beginner class. It’s not about how many moves, but how well they are taught and how well you do them, and do them safely. Stear clear of any place that lets you invert ina beginner class. Ask them if they are going to teach you dance as well or just tricks?

2.) As an Intructor – I am all for live instruction. You can be corrected immediatly. That is so important in the beginning. Even gripping the pole and walking around it requires proper instructions so as not build bad habits and to use proper posture to avoid injuries. As simple as pole dancing seem, it’s not always easy to spina round the pole. There are fundamentals that need to be taught that will make pole dancing much less frustrating and will lead to you success as a pole dancer.

Honestly if you can take classes do it because you will get a lot out of them.

I have the same issue with my camcorder – I have to get a good 10 feet away before you can see the entire pole. I have heard you can get different lenses for camcorders – I just started using my digital camera – it takes good video.

AS for Windows 7 movie maker. I was having issues with, not the same ones you are having and my research came up that I need new codecs. Webmaster can help way more than I can because I just downloaded the new codecs and movie maker has been working fine ever since.

I actually went out and bought adobe elements but it doesn’t work well with my laptop at all.

Pinnacle has a good trial as does Corel – I should have stuck with eithe rof those two programs.

LOL! HC – I had a case in my pole room and just ordered another. I love Tite Grip especially now that I figured out how to use it (2-3 hours before pole.) I am not nearly as frustrated as I was.

I’m still waiting on my samples. I tried Grrrrip at the end of a pole jam – I want to try it again to see how it works for us, so I’ll let you know after Midwest pole jam…are you ming? I thought you were midwest-ish.

I have incredibly small hands. I never realized that until the owner of the studio I worked at pointed it out to me…Later when Karol, Empy and Nymph came they confirmed I have small hands.

I stll use a 50mm and I can do everything on it. It’s harder and I do think some things take me longer to learn, I have a 45mm but I barely use it. I really like the 50mm and spend most of my time on it, however having both has been really helpful to me. So what I am saying is to not give up one for another but try to use them both equally if you can because 50 is *still* the norm – for now.

    Hey HC,

I am still swearing by Tite Grip. I know you said anti perspirants haven’t worked for you, but have you tried putting them on a couple of hours before you pole? I noticed that my hands were really dry a few hours after class. So try using the anti perspirant earlier in the day. It seems to work for me much better. If I don’t use it I am a sweaty mess.

Also mixing dry hands and tite grip has been good for me too. I will tell ou what I think of Itac when I get it.
