I had this problem for awhile too and cannot understand why it happened.
I was wondering if dancing in shoes might be the reason, long shot here, but what if a stilletto pulls on it from the side or something and it comes undone???

POST!!!!!! You have to post your practice! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I know what you mean about carpet – I’m not a huge fan of it either https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
Ballet slippers are great! They really do help you move around on carpet.
I’m sorry you had to cancel your studio membership. Hopefully things turn around soon.
Something I was thinking of doing was getting a 4ftX4ft sheet of plywood and covering with flooring just to have a smooth surface around the pole to dance on.

My LM was up for over a year and when I took it down the whole flange fell out and sawdust rained down. I asked about it on S Factor, since for awhile it was the pole they sold, and there were some others who had the same problem.
The LM’s need to be retightened – well, all poles do over time. There were times when I would work in spin mode on my PS pole and I realized it had come a bit loose and had to retighten it. The problem with the LM is that there is a single screw fixing the flange, the pole sits in the flange so as the pole moves from big swings the flange moves thus the screw moves – essentially boring out the joist.
If the pole is reset a lot and tightened or isn’t used for really hard swings it’s fine. I did have mine up a long time before it got loose like that. I *think* it’s because the bottom can move out – even on carpet once it starts to loosen a bit – goes slightly crooked and that also stresses on the flange.
For me once I saw the damage done I couldn’t replace the pole where it was and decided to get a Platinum Stages.
I love the LM’s because they are one piece but was really put off by the damage. I probably didn’t retighten it as much as it needed to be tightened though. I am sure it was 50% user error and 50% the design.

X-pole shouldn’t push through the ceiling if you are under a stud.
If you move to a 45mm you’ll find spins and hand gripped moves easier but leg grip will probably be harder. If you have small hands or sweaty hands you might prefer the 45mm but if you’ve been dancing on your 2”/50mm you’ll probably do just fine with the 50mm X.
I know the Flirty Girl style pole – it’s similar to Lil Mynx but can you fastened the base to the floor with the FG pole?
I had a Lil Mynx and it did the same thing and left a large hole in the ceiling as well as compromised the stud. If you fasten the base to the floor it should get rid of this problem. You rent so I am not sure if that is an option for you. I also rent and it just wasn’t an option for me. Sadly.
I have heard if you constantly take those types of poles down and reset them up you’ll have no problems. I am going to use my LM to teach with but it will be taken down every hour of use.

Vaseline never dries out according to my father. If your pole is up – it’s not an issue because it’s threaded together, if you take your pole down I would wrap the ends in plastic wrap to be sure nothing gets stuck to the grease and gets caught in your threads.
Vaseline will not hurt, stain or rust your pole – it’s non abrasive. It’s been working like a charm for me. Just be sure to clean up any seeping jelly that gets onto the pole – I use acetone, does a great job of cleaning everything up.

I am so sorry. That’s horrid! I would just block them.
Unfortunately we can’t flag people for being mean and idiotic (and on top of all of that liars- you are not fat) – wish we could.
-
Well, whoever it is still has their page up and I am guessing there is no way to prescreen videos being put up.
I think it is safe to assume IF they reupload the video again and the complaint again is that this person is uploading abusive videos then they will likely be shut down.
I would guess if after they are shutdown and the open a new account doing the same bs youtube will block their IP.
-
As of 5:02 PM the video has been removed!
I flagged it as abusive – promoting violence and hatred – and told youtube it referred to people in a derogatory manner based on religion, ethnicity and sexual preference.
-
Flagged!
If you look under the subscriptions there are about 20 pole dancers this person is subscribed to and likely going to harass.
It’s really disgusting and truly this person has absolutely no life. That must have taken an awful lot of time to get all those videos.
I am really saddened – I hope everyone is okay.
Hugs everyone!

Anyone interested please email mailto:getpolefit@gmail.com. Please include your name and a telephone number.
I am putting together a list now. Feel free to tell your friends about it. As the date gets closer I will call and confirm everyone and give everyone the pricing info – we haven’t set a price as of yet. I am in talks with the studios to see what they want to charge ME for the rental.
Just a note the beginner/intermediate will not be for new students sadly – this is a class that will require some pole knowledge – you will have had to have taken a class, taken online lessons or have some pole experience.
If anyone wants to travel for this I have room to set someone up. I am sure a couple of other people will be able to host an out of town pole dancer too =)
As soon as everything is set you will be able to get information off my website http://www.michiganpoledance.com or Wendy’s website http://www.newyorkpoledancing.com
*Veena, thank you so much for letting me put this out there on this board. Because this is such a rare opportunity in Michigan to get to train with some of such a high caliber in person, SV members have first dibs on class spots.

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif Chrome is great!
I just swapped my stainless out for my X-pole a few months ago and was so happy I didn’t have the warm the pole up time I usually have with stainless on the bad side I just run up and do tricks so I am not warming me up. My poor x-pole I was so prejudiced against it.
Where are you taking lessons? Are you using x-pole in your classes? What kind of pole do you have now?
If it’s an LM stainless (I loathe them) they seem to be much slippier than the Platinum Stages.
Congrats on all of those moves!!!!! That is a lot of progress in 3 visits! NOW YOU HAVE TO COME OUT FOR POLE JAMS https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Glitter – I don’t know if it helps but the 4th is a Tuesday so not the weekend.
I am really excited. I still haven’t let the cat out of the bag to my students yet which is so hard because so many of them would love to do this but am holding spots for forums members and friends.
So as of today I only have enough room for 9 people in Beginner/Intermediate and I only have 6 spots available for advanced. It’s first come first serve – the classes won’t be advertised for a couple of weeks yet.
*the advanced class will probably end up being limited to 4 but tentatively I will try for 6 people but think it will be too many.
*Beginner/Intermediate will most likely be more intermediate based with harder spins, spin combos, climbing and inversion.

Who is Lisa Lewis?
Anyway – I am glad there is a thread about this. I hope everyone reads it and takes the advice to heart. I teach inverting after spins and freestyle are mastered not to mention they can hold themselves in a pole up for 15 seconds and a number of other things.
It’s not all about inverting anyway – I’d rather see someone dance then trick all day long.

^^ I had no idea you could have the seams taken in! I bought the boots then gave them away because they didn’t fit right =( I LOVE the grippiness of boots like that and have always been jelous of friends who could find them and get them to fit right!
I went for stiff tops after which are great but like I said my black pair fights against me lol! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
-
My only concern with those boots is that if they do not hug the calf super tight they will fall down when you invert. I had a pair like that – that I gave away because they fell down. But if they fit your calf well then they are super grippy and great for pole work.
I have a white pair of pleaser stiff tops that I love. Another pair in black that don’t grip well and I just got a pair of thigh black patent leather stiff top boots – haven’t poled in them yet but they should be pretty grippy.

I am so excited. I cannot wait to meet her and get a private lesson!

Definitely talk to Joel first and send him your plans. I think I know the plan you are talking about it and if it’s the same one I am thinking it will cost you over $50 to make. It will be closer to $70-$100.
For the floors you can always get a non skid pad – can be ordered through Lil Mynx or you can can use a yoga mat. If it’s only attaching at the ceiling and you have hard wood floors I’d suggest using a rug or something underneath it because I had a pole that attached at the ceiling and even on carpet the bottom would move out (this was spring loaded but you don’t want any scratches on hard wood floors.)
I built a stage last year and it was over $100 just for the stage – it’s just the stage and then I put the pole on top of it not through it. So building stages could get get pricey. Iwas hoping to spend 50 on it and ended up running into problems. The thing for me was that the ply wood needed to be fairly thick to support my weight walking across it and I’m a smaller person and I still had to go 3/4 inch thick but in all reality I think I should have gone thicker.
I think Joel (poledancefan) has a much better route than anything I have seen elsewhere. PM him and see what he has to say because I think he made his first pole for $30.
-
Congrats! You’ll enjoy the X-pole and save a lot of money in the long run.
I also bought a Peek a boo pole years ago and I fell off of it. Luckily I wasn’t badly hurt but I sure didn’t expect something like that to happen.
You can’t go wrong with Xpole, Lil Mynx or Platinum Stages. I have all 3 poles and have beat all three up pretty bad and they are all standing. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

A .mov file needs to be converted to .avi or .wmv you’ll need to go to http://www.cnet.com and search for a .mov converter. I am guessing you are using your cell phone to record? I do this often and just downloaded a free program that turns .3gp files into .avi.
The name of the program I use is called Pazera.

You are not pole dance mentally challenged!
Have you thought about taking pole lessons? Some studios will allow you to audition and they will place you within their program. There is a very good school in Chicago that I can recommend if you like. The instructor is fabulous.
Consider that your friends might have picked up things faster because they had someone to walk them through and correct them each and every step of the way. When you have no feedback and input and correction it can take a lot longer.
I think you are doing fabulous. You are a very good dancer and trickster.
Each person has their own advantages and disadvantages walking up to the pole. Sometimes people bust advanced moves right away but can struggle with simpler moves. Moves like superman and shoiuldermount have several tutorials and threads about them across the vast pole universe.
I think you are a talented dancer and very rounded dancer – you can dance, trick and flow the two together. You are very blessed to have both qualities.
Sometimes it helps to shelve a move. Sometimes it a certain technique and it needs to be figured out (the knees is one, the iguana is another.) Sometimes you aren’t engaging the proper muscles and you are just one step away.
Do you take online lessons or have DVD’s? I like to look at a lot of resources when I get stuck on a move and sometimes searching around I figure out what I need to do to achieve the move. Other times it’s good to get a private lesson.
-
First of all – you’re not getting me anywhere near that move – no double spatchcocks – lol https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
Awesome job!
That move still freaks me out, it feels kinda gross (yes, I’m the idiot that just tried it.) it feels so wrong… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Jungle – I didn’t see your vid however being a christian I would have enjoyed seeing it.
Let’s face it – When yoga was big a lot of Christians were against it because of it’s past steeped in Eastern Relgion however Christians cam to embrace it and use the exercise both physically to improve themselves and the meditation to connect with God.
I did a praise vid myself and received no comment – I dedicated it to my Dad and a good friend who has always been there spiritually for me. They inspire me to pursue my relationship with God and be a better Christian. I didn’t feel as if anyone should be offended in anyway Iw as expressing my joy for having a loving God in my life and His blessing of people who support that.
God is praised through Dance (see 1 Samuel) and song (Psalms) Go to Exodus and read about how the Israelites danced and praised God as they were freed from hard bondage. Art is beautiful and favored by God – consider this – look around the planet – not only does God love to create but he has a sense of humor (duck bill platypus anyone?) The author of the universe CREATED us, CREATED the birds who sing and GAVE US THE ABILITY to likewise create and procreate.
It’s sad that the church as a whole – as the body of Christ (all religions) feel the need to fight amongst ourselvs and judge rather than realizing that we all have something to be held accountable. We’ve all sinned. Read Mathew – if you have an issue with your brother you are to speak with him about it. God gives us the rules of how to deal with someone in the flock that may be doing something wrong/unhealthy.sinful. Even if these people felt you were being sinful – should they not have taken you aside and privately spoken with you about it and given you the oppotunity to explain.
Bashing someone isn’t being a Christian and it isn’t letting your light shine. No matter how someone feels about pole dance as Christians we are REQUIRED to handle things in a Godly manner and sort them out with help of the Holy Spirit.
Jungle – I think you should continue to include God in every single aspect of your life. Once we start cutting Him out of things in our life we begin to fall away from Him and lose our connection. I think you should continue your praise of God in a joyful manner as you have. Who knows? Maybe God is using you and your praise pole dance this very second to inspire someone who may not otherwise have thought of God today. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I’m 28, have been poling since January 2007. I’m 5’5 and 120 – I go between 115 and 120 a lot.
