I sometimes think that my idea of sensual is a little weird but here are some songs that speak to me.

    Studying Stones – Ani DeFranco

    Lies – The Black Keys

These Days – The Black Keys

    Lady – Joss Stone

    Gravity – John Mayer

    Syrup & Honey – Duffy

    F* You – Damien Rice

Let It Be Me – Ray Lamontagne

Crazy (Gnarles Barkley Cover) – Ray Lamontagne

    Purple Rain – Etta James

Love Don't Live Here Anymore – Madonna

MissyMia – The Midwest Pole Dance Competition and Pacific Pole Championships already have a Masters for over 40.  🙂  It's happening and it's splendid!

Lyme, see if you can get the 1 piece 40 PS so you don't have to deal with the larger adjuster rod cover – my friend has a removeable 50 and I swear that cover at the bottom is like 3 inches around and it's so hard to grip because it's plastic and huge.

PS stainless is really good – I like it.  I have tried the LM stainless and I do ok with it but I think PS corners the market on SS.  I have not tried the X-pole SS but have heard it's slippy, same with their brass.  Do they not have a TG option for the 40?

I love my chrome 40 for what it's worth.

@dancing in the gray – my girlfriend was the same way – a lot of her issues with inverting came from fear.  She worked really hard to get it and the trainer has helped her build up strength for sure.

Don't look at it as weight to lose, just look at goals – like "I want to feel strong in my invert."  Make goals that have nothing to do with weight – that's just a number – make pole goals 🙂  Trust me, I was using the gym with non pole goals and it wasn't fun, when I thought and focused on pole goals – I was super excited!!!!!

I wouldn't spend $200/ week on a personal trainer but I would do is look into cross training at a gym.  Do you have a Planet Fitness neariby?  I go to PF and they have a 30 minute course set up and you basically use the machines for a minute and then do a min of cardio.  They have a PT on staff that will go over how to use the equipment, how much to do, how much weight, etc.

I second classes too – are there any bootcamps nearby?

I never liked the thought of having to cross train for pole but during my practice for midwest I was pretty artist blocked and just couldn't focus so I took to the gym and found that I LOVED it!  I'd get on the treadmill listen to music and dream of pole dancing.  I got really excited when I saw my body changing and getting stronger and more flexible.  Everyday I went to the gym I felt like I had done something good for myself.

My friend has been doing time with a PT because she travels a lot and can't always pole and she's kept all of her tricks.  So cross training has it's place and it did make her pole work better – she was able to go longer and with the added strength she was more confident in doing things.

I've always been smaller too and found that moves like the gemini pull my tunny in an unflattering manner.  You can wear monokini's and such that will minimize the look of stretching skin but sometimes there is nothing you can do about it.

Here's the goodnews – we all do pole and we all suffer with it 🙂  You're not alone!

I believe one of the reasons it will not be legalized is because there is no way to test for it if someone is driving.  No one should be driving under the influence of any kind of drug including pot, alcohol, perscription drugs, etc.  So until they can test for it they probably won't legalize it.

The best solution is decriminalizing it which would be mean it would be a misdemeanor and not a felony – though I don't think a doobie is a felony any more – and pocession would not end with jail time but fines.

In our current conservative world – I can't see pot being sold in stores although it should be and regulated like alcohol.  There are too many people there are too many that would fuss over this – we as a country aren't ready for it.

I concur – far too many people in the system over pot – sad!

I am 100% pro MEDICINAL marijuana.  I think that there are ways to use it properly.  My biggest example would be pain in cancer patients – I would rather see natural pain relievers used as opposed to chemicals that have far worse side effects on the body.

I am against recreational use of marijuana and am totally against what happens here in Michigan – where you basically say "I have pain" and you get a perscription for pot!  I think with proper legislation and medical diagnosis it can be helpful.

To add, personally – my experiences with pot haven't been fun, I just go to sleep so it's easy for me to say no to it.  I've done it a handful of times and it knocks me out, which isn't much fun.  I suppose if i needed to sleep I'd try it but i'm a good sleeper on my own, lol – don't need help.  Bring on the wine!

Yup E-600!  I went to a crystal & bead shop and tried to buy all hot fix crystals but sadly swarovski doesn't make all the colors in hot fix so I had to deal with basic flatbacks.  Once you get the hang of it – it's not sooo bad.  I used my crystals on clothing and the E600 stuck pretty well until my boyfriend washed and dried them – oops!

You can get a mask and rubber gloves if you're worried about breathing in fumes.  I just worked small areas and in little incriments so it was never that bad for me.

I don't know if your problem is the same as mine was but I was putting my arm TOO LOW.  What I found was that as I was putting weight on the "Shelf" if it was too low I would slip out – you want to start with your elbow pointing up – then twist your leg into a turn out and plant the the divet in your hip onto your elbow/bicep and slowly come dow – as you add weight your "shelf" will flatten out – that's why you want to start with inside forearm frip high enough to sustain the weight about to be placed on it.

I hope that helps.  For what it's worth Is till can't do it without a mirror – I need to be able SEE where my inside arm is or else I keep planting it too low.

I hope I am coming off correctly and not harshly because I mean this with all the love in the world…

When you are self teaching I still believe very strongly that it's a good idea to continue with your studio program and do each level.  There will be small things that you might miss in self teaching such as the bum slide that take a while to learn so by skipping a level you might be missing out some important things.  Levels are in place for a reason.

When I have students who begin also training with SV I make sure to tell them to start at the beginning of her program, we are a little different so starting at the beginning will get them properly introduced to Veena's method, they know better than to just go to the move lesson they are working on in class.

There will be things we all struggle with – infact I still don't bum slide well at all – it's a hard move for me.

I feel like you went into your class with too high of expectations of yourself.  When we self teach we can take breaks, move at our pace, when we attend classes we might be moving faster than we expected, taking turns, doing a more intense warm up.

I will  never forget doing a class with Amber Richard, mind you I was already teaching many years in, and being exhausted after the warm up and her telling my back hook wasn't  big enough.  I kind of thought I was going to walk in and rock out and boy did I get served, lol!

Please remember that you are not alone with grip issues (too much or too little) or fear.  All the girls in your class have all been there too at one point or another.  Hopefully you'll begin to bond with them and that will make you much less self concious.

Stick with it babe!  We've all been there!  Go back and do great 🙂

WOW!  I'm really impressed – it was just a few hours for me that I couldn't access – it was a pain but no big deal – I am glad I wasn't the only one experiencing issues.  Stuff happens and I think this is the first time since the inception of SV that there has even been a problem!

Thank you so for being so thorough and even going above and beyond and explaining what's going on!!!  WOW!
