Actually we should add a fine for heterosexual sex only because I've known a few gay friends to have it when they are drunk….so if you get fined for same sex the same could apply for opposite sex – teehhheeeeehehehe.

Why don't we make a thread of a list we ALL put together???

Without getting into semantics and saying "it's ok to download a song illegally but not a pole video," the point is about supporting our extremely SMALL community and respecting the pioneers, teachers and performers who provide for us the ability to get better at what we LOVE to do.

If you can afford a $400 pole, you can spend the money on DVD's that actually support the industry and art form we all love so much.

Why are there people who believe that learning pole should be free?  If you want to learn to pole dance for the simple cost of the pole there are many tutorials on youtube you can watch for free that nice pole people have made to share with you. If you want high quality video/sound production and to learn from master teachers PAY for it.

Woud you walk into Jamilla's class and ask to be let in for free?

Better yet, would you walk into  Veena's classroom and aske her to teach you for free?

To me, this isn't about the law it's about respecting and taking care of our own.  It's about people who give us products that make us better and in turn us supporting them so they can grow and keep the cycle going.

@chemmie – I buy lots of used DVD's and CD's but I think that for me to purchase them they had to be purchased at some point plus I have no issue buying new either – unless it's Journey or something I have on vinyl, cassette and now DVD (lol!)

When it comes to pole I very much believe in somehow supporting the artists whether it's by being apart of the community, purchasing things that interest and will benefit me or promoting products thatI know will benefit others.  That's the other thing, even if I might not learn something from a product does not mean it's not a product others can learn from and use.  We use the music industry as an example but it's not the best one because artists are paid for merch, live performances, records, downloads, commercials, etc…pole dancers are only paid for their pole products or teaching – that's a small earning potential in the grande scheme of things.

So on that note I would like to say: Please support and promote pole dancers/videos/sites/dvd's and things in this community that have benefitted you or would benefit another.  We need to stick together!  Let's back each other up!

Well, if we are talking "knowingly" then…my fine is substantially reduced – atleast by $80 https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif

$590….but that's only because I drink a lot, so I get the drunk fines – almost all of them except waking up to someone whose name I did not know and well some dinking has led to some other antics….

It's not about the existance of "free" resources to gather and keep information it's about the choice to do so.

I have loaned out DVD's before if I wasn't using them, I have in some cases given them away, sold them or traded them but that's because I had no need for them.  I paid full price for them from the artist.  Even that seems a little wrong now, lol!

As an instructor nothing make me more angry than teaching a great class or sequence and having students go home immediatly and just teach it to others.  Why would you pay for class then allow someone else to gain free access to current new information?  Shouldn't they atleast help you pay for the class if they are immediatly and directly benefitting?  That's not fair to you or your instructor.

I'm not saying don't share, I guess I am saying think about what you're doing.

I paid $150 to learn to the fonjji.  Why?  Because that's a fair price for a private – I ans an instructor am directly benifitting and will teach it how many more times?  The difference is – I paid to learn it correctly, safely and how to teach it – so in the end $150 isn't that much.

It's like a 24/7 pole studio – there are dancers of all shapes, sizes and abilities on here.  Over the years it's been amazing to watch everyone grow and see new people start up!

My 2 cents.  As someone who makes a living teaching (we rarely get PAID performing gigs) I could not imagine taking someone's content and learning from it for free.

In order for artists, teachers and the industry to grow we need to financially support pole studios, pole teachers, pole sites, pole dvds, pole events or we will not be able to sustain.

I'm not in any way money hungry and believe there is so much great content out there from diverse teachers and dancers (everyone does things differently) that without supporting the industry we will never get to see those things, learn those things and experience those things.

Over the years I have tens of thousands of dollars into my pole education from certifications, privates, workshops, memberships, dvd's, etc and it's the best money I've ever spent.

I'm not nearly as balanced as I would like to be – can't wait to see what I can or rather can't do!

Oh an one more thing about DGP – I found the MORE I used it *daily* the less sweaty my hands were – the only times I really suffer grip problems is when I am very hormonal at this point – I've been able to track it.

I cannot agree with Joel more!  I love DGP!  I got to test it in it's infancy and even then it was pretty good.  I like that I'm not sweaty or dry and it leaves a bit of tack on my hands.  I tend to still require an anti perspirant because I am SO sweaty but this does my  hands pretty good and I have been able to cut down on the chemicals I am using.

On a side note – my cat seems to like it too – I can use it and he doesn't  smell me and run away!
