I think I would go through the video and find things I cannot do that I love, write them down and then find a basic version of the move, and work my way up.
Not only does she have some effortless looking tricks but she gets, out, up and down effortlessly – that's probably the hardest part. You can master a move but have no way of putting it in a dance like this.
I would take all the pieces in this that inspired you and work them in your own way! 😀

I also do ot currently own a studio and YES! I never wanted to OWN anything but sadly – that's how it has to be.

Meagan – when you're ready I think you will be a great teacher.
Go slow, focus on small goals with new students – realize that it takes time to be perfect and understand there are steps to moves like you might get your fireman and just slide down – that's step one – there are numerous steps in perfecting anything so don't hold nayone to the perfect standard. Be willing to find new ways to explain things, find different ways of saying the same thing. Be able to pick out specific points to students when they aren't quite there. Be encouraging and know when to instruct and when to give tips. Always give your students something to work on when they leave. Note their strengths and weaknesses – like if someone isn't flexible give them 5 minutes of simple things to do every day to help them. As their love of pole grows so will their love of corss training.
ALWAYS show how things work together and know the forward and reverse of tricks because everyone is different – like I cannot lift to iron X but can descend from it – I know the opposite is true for others.
ABOVE ALL – ask for training. Don't let them throw you to the wolves so to speak. You were asked to teach for a great reason and it is up to the business to nurture YOU.

Shoulder flexibility can be gained though – you want to be overly flexible if you're doing twisted grip and you also need to be able to twist it enough around. Try also playing with the height of your TG.
Also will mention that TG is only on way of doing things – everything done TG can be done true grip (aka chinese grip, cup grip.) Cup grip is better because you can keep your shoulder aligned better.

Sascah – holding the legs is common so I generally tell people as a step to grab the knees and keep thm bent – get the grip then get the extension. I also like to have them work onthe version where one leg is up and the other (outside is straight) most people like this better anyway as the teddy is errrr….exposing – hahahaha – which is why it's my favortie!

I liked everything I saw but Jamilla's DVD's are something like $30/piece or $100 for the set. Are you considering the set? I only ask because there are a few tricky things in vol 2…but there are 5 volumes and I am not sure which moves are on which DVDs. I thought they were well made, very well broken down and easy to follow. Jamilla is a GREAT teacher.
Vertical Dance was great Vol 2 will be helpful for sure, I liked how they did theirs – but depending on your level of ability – there wasn't much in the way of variations on moves because we didn't have them then and there's less content overall when compared with Jamilla's DVD's although for your basic advanced moves VD is awesome and a great buy!
So basically in a nutshell my advice would be to get VD vol2 or get the whole series from Jamilla.

Oh lol – I didn't think you were saying it's better and in my opinion if you can find a GOOD studio it's imperative. I have heard so many good things about Discoveries! I am ETED certified which I understand is similar as far POC, muscle engagement, safety, etc.
I think most good pole instructors teach similar to Veena – we all have our unique tips and secrets. I'm about to buy a month because it's been awhile since I saw SV lessons and it's helpful to me to tell my students where and what to watch. 🙂

jkpolegirl – I have heard the above arguements myself and concur – the classroom is a different experience and an important one with the proper environment.
SV provides the 24/7 studio experience and there are things that are different but I feel and I can tell everyone on this thread does too that I wantmy students to excel as best they can. I have a hard enough time posting REVIEWS much less full on tutorials – that takes a TON of time. It's much easier to say "wanna get bett4r faster, log onto SV, buy the lessons, review the stuff we did in class and I'll just post the choreo we did." i could not imagine having the time to edit and post each move plus how the choroe i taught. GEEEZZZ, lol!
SV works perfectly for how I teach and offers a lot of extra instruction for a fair price and a cheaper price than it would be to pay for me. My excelerated program REQUIRES SV membership.

Hi Olivia – I call it the Little Dipper because the shape reminds me of the constellation. I was trying to submit as a compulsory move and no one had ever seen if before but if anyone knows of another name for it – please let me know 🙂
here's a video of it 🙂

I encourage students to come here, some sign up for lessons but the rule is they aren't allowed to do advanced stuff without permission. I look at SV as an amazing resource for my students – they can use this tool to help them remember moves, alignment and how to correctly do it. I just did a 16 hour dance instensive and to be honest I have already forgotten too much – so having a place to review with proper technique is important.
I know some studios feel that people will stop coming if they can do Veena but for me because I stress safety so much and taking the move into a sequence I have never had anyone drop me for Veena. Infact those who take with Veena ENJOY coming to me because we review, spot and take what they learn here to another levl – and if they can't remember a spin or how to do it – they come HERE and get the proper information so when they get back to me we can spend less time on review and move forward into variations, sequences, etc.
For those who are cash strapped -as I ALWAYS am – some do online lessons with Veena then a monthly or bi-weekly private with me.
