I take it the photo is the lunge you want to get out of so what if you tried bringing outstretched leg into same position as bent leg and then body wave up. The position of your body and placement of hands is difficult for a spin. You could reverse hands and try a ballerina or something simple like that. Hope this helps a little.

My permanent mount came with screws but like GG357 and hubby put it up. Good luck!

  • I have to thank you all because this discussion gave me the motivation to get my ass in gear and low and behold I achieved ayesha on Thursday evening…3 times!!! I was bouncing off the walls. My husband was impressed but not nearly as excited as I was. Even attempted elbow grip and have a lovely bruise to show my hard work!!! xoxo

One of my faves is fade into you, Mazzy Star. Joss Stone is great for dancing too. Sorry cant think of the name of the song but all are really good.

  • Definitely extended butterfly and ayesha. The sad thing is its just lack of working on it. I was just starting both when my studio classes ended and I guess without really nailing them with a spot I have not been consistent.

I finally did it! The pole on my pre-k playground is a pole with staggered steps about half way up so I figured I would try to place my hands just above the steps and was able to do a couple different inversions and SM. Sooo much fun. Been eyeballin’ it for a few months!!!

Very important blog! I was a gymnast and I would have gotten no where on floor and bars without momentum. The key is “controlled momentum”!!

I agree with the momentum being kind of a necessary evil so to speak when you are a beginner who rally wants to get up there no matter wht it takes but the key is to then teach to use that control so not to injure yourself. It took me a while to not use a lot of momentum when first learning shoulder mount. I just wanted to do it! now ,I understand the importance of control and core strength. My instructor did stress controlled inversions and had a hard time with students that were sloppy inverters!!

ah ha! I’m from NY and when I come home for the Holidays we should meet up in the city for pole class. I asked GaetaAggressiva to take a class with me when I come home, we should all go together even though its far off it sounds like a good plan!

Wow, that was really a strange post! Anyway, Yup, right there with you girls! So hard to stay in the pole groove when its just you. I was in a studio for 3 years but even then didn’t seem anyone was as as into it as me even though they showed each week. well one girl I did bond with but she moved. So I pole at home and also wish I had some friends to pole play with. It’s awesome to be able to connect here but never pole together. What to do, what to do!

I think you shouldn’t worry so much about how your toes look. the important thing is that they are pointed. You will look at some photos and think ,dam, I look good in that hold and not even think about your toes. The point being you will look so good there3 will be no focus on the feet and toes!!

I have the X Pole vaulted mount and it works beautifully. I dont ever take mine down though even though its easy enough to do. Just have to make sure you find the studs.
