I just bought my first pole and have had it for a little under a week now. I went with 45mm stainless steel X-Pert X-Pole.

From my own research and my own likes and dislikes I decided X-Pole was right for me over PS and LM. I'm definitely loving everything about it.

Unfortunately I don't think I can answer one of your big questions about metal allergies because I have not found that I am sensitive. Choosing SS wasn't a big dilemma for me ether. I decided SS because that is what I have danced on at studios and was recommended to me by my teachers. I didn't want to get a finish I knew nothing about.

In my dance room, were I have my pole, the ceiling height is 11f 5in. You are definitely right about how the total adds up, but I was In a position were that was ok. I feel my pole is worth every penny.

I have absolutely no experience with Platinum Stages so I cannot speak on it.

I hope this helps a little

MissStarr- Thanks. I'm getting really excited now!

    AerialGypsy- Thanks for the clarification.

abcollins1- I really appreciate your in depth insight . I totally agree, I'm all about getting spinning/ static because I know I'm going to want it down the line. It's great you know that 45mm is right for you. I'm getting the idea that 45mm is slowly becoming the new standard. I have never danced on a powder coated, though once in a full class I danced on a brass  X-Stage. It really wasn't my thing, I couldn't wait to switch(I don't think I was ready for it yet)
