I can’t speak for everyone on this, but I own a 50mm and I’ve always been fine with it. Recently I started a class and there we use 45mm. Initially I found the 45mm waaay easier on my hands (I have small hands!) and didn’t notice too much difference in the leg department. If I could go back, I think I may have gotten a 45mm. But now that I’m switching between them regularly, I dont notice much of a difference at all. So, Id probably go for 45mm if I were you, but either way, don’t worry about it as you’d get used to either https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Dustbunny, I have trouble with my hard drive too, but I find that If i export the files as an mpeg for example, it takes up much less space, then I delete the originals https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
I loove mirrors, but I have no big ones at home. However, I did strain my neck badly once while trying to watch myself do a move – so be careful! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Video is great, although I find it can take a while to get aligned to you get the angle you want .

Ooh I’m glad to hear there are strength exercises for scapula etc. in the lessons. I must do them. I’ve always had a bad left shoulder, and I’ve actually found it getting better as I’ve gotten stronger from poling. My shoulder doesn’t like TG either though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Sorry you’re having pain. I find cryotherapy (i.e. cold therapy) to be helpful, like using gels such as biofreeze and getting someone to massage it in deeply. Hope it feels better soon! x

If I were you, I’d be really frustrated. I joined a pole class about 4 weeks ago (it’s more of a self directed freestyle class, but most of the girls would consider themselves advanced). Now I still consider myself a relative noob on this site still, but I can do a lot of the advanced moves on Veena’s lessons, and I was surprised when I went to lessons to see that I’m probably more advanced than any of the girls in the class, even though some of them have been doing it 3-4 years! (i’ve been poling since Jan). They haven’t even seen some moves I consider fairly basic.
It’s nice to have a class to go to. But if I were you, Id take the online lessons. I’ve been using Veena’s since I got my pole and I’m very pleased. I can move at my own pace, and can still get critique by uploading videos. I go to the class too, which is great – but sometimes get in trouble for trying harder moves and teaching them to other girls! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
You could try out Veena’s lessons for a month, (they’re fairly affordable), and see what you think if you haven’t done so already. -
To be honest, I sort of got the shoulder mount ‘by accident’, as in I was just trying it for fun and it worked. However, I had a private pole class a couple of months ago, and the instructor was teaching me to get my core trained up so I don’t need to ‘jump’ into it, which is exactly what Veena’s lesson has. Yes it’s harder from the floor, but the hardest way, in this case, is the best way!
In terms of SM in general, I found the shoulder V easier, well I could just do it before I could mount. The key with mounting, I feel, is keeping your body curved, and then pushing your upper body away from the pole as soon as your legs are holding you on the pole – to avoid collarbone-pole contact. Ouch. Actually if there’s another way to do this I’d love to know! And regarding sliding down the pole – make sure your shoulder is bare as much as possible, start doing it with just a sports bra on and no tshirt and squeeeeze your shoulder into the pole. It hurts https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Ahh im excited! It’s hard to think of moves on the spot, how about flatline scorpio? Also i’d be really interested in combos, like moving in and out of different moves. Can’t wait to see the new lessons https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Not necessarily trouble shooting, I know I mostly just need heaps of practise! Its more like what’s easiest? and what are the stepping stones between basic forearm butterfly… split grip extended butterfly… to aysha. I will try and upload a vid later this evening though and will post a link, so you can see where I’m coming from https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Hi Melanie, I’m in Dublin. I use Veena’s lessons, never been to a pole class! You’ll be fine https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

So sorry this happened to you. I was in the same situation when buying my pole. The stud finder beeped continually. I tried to persuade my bf this meant it was okay, but he wasn’t to be fooled! It turns out stud finders don’t work on plaster ceilings. SO we had to pop out the light and look in to find the joist. I’m sure it’s just cosmetic repair at this stage. Best of luck with taking the pole down.
And when you put it back up, it may be worth having someone (maybe the plasterer) to take out a light fitting and locate a joist with a torch! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I have eczema, and there is a thread about it from a few weeks ago so if you search eczema you’ll find it. Corn huskers is supposed to be good for dry skin, bt if it’s eczema cream youre looking for, amlactin seems to be recommended (although its non existent in ireland so i cant get my hands on it yet!) I also like dexeryl, but its really greasy so I use it non poling days, and on days I pole, I either use it after im finished on the pole, or i apply cream, but just make sure i shower before I touch the pole! Also, elave bodywash is good too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Sorry I haven’t been watching this topic.. but just to let you guys know I rang xpole as I used the smaller extension and there was bit of the adjustr rod showing, they said this is fine as their guidelines are leaving extra safety margin. (When I used the bigger extension, couldn’t get the pole up without the dome catching) It means that on my pole you can see a teeny weeny bit of the adjuster rod but if I do grab that area, I dont even feel it.
Just in case this applies to you guys!

Cool! I really didn’t expect that one, I suppose that’s cos we don’t have spring break here. Will feel a bit odd putting a bikini on while it still looks like winter. This should be fun! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I know Miss Fantasia, I didnt know they did Pleasers, will deffo have a look this week, I probably won’t buy them unless they have the perfect ones (I have my heart set on them), but would be great to try them on, thanks Deetron! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
