It’s a bit annoying that it doesn’t have pics to show the stretches, or am i missing something on the website?? if you know of any other sites for splits stretching let me know 🙂

I had been searching for these for a while, and in the end I bought one from my pole school when it was closing down. Got a pink pole mat for 50 euro, so I got lucky. Before that I used cushions and they were fine! Hope you find something!

Yeah I have a vid on here where I danced around them, including my boyfriend, although managed to *accidentally* kick him once or twice!

Yep I second poler girl, push your hips forward so your pushing your bottom thigh (i.e. the one that isnt hooking in the gemini) against the pole, while squeezing with the gemini leg. When your comfy, arch arch arch and let go if you can. If you do let go, make sure you keep your hips and torso facing upwards to keep you nicely gripped on the pole 🙂
-
I learned the first one in pole class recently, its very easy if you have gemini. Its even nicer if you can arch your back and let go of the hand, it them becomes like a marley variation without holding your foot 🙂

Yeah, I used to work on the TG handspring and I have stopped. It doesn't feel as intuitive as any other grip I know, and the shoulders twist in a weird way, I can definitely understand how one would be prone to injuries, I'd say I definitely hurt my shoulders doing it myself. It doesn't even look that much nicer than a usual split grip in my opinion. I would really worry about anyone being taught TG as a beginner grip!!!

Welcome Lainey. Im Audrey, I'm in Dublin so not UK but near enough! You're so lucky to have an Xstage on the way! I have an xpert and its in the lounge of my 1 bed flat I share with my boyfriend – if I can make room for it, then so can you, lol! I have to move the couch and coffee table when Im using the pole – sometimes I just leave them there and dance around them if im feeling lazy!
The forum layout has changed recently, i'm still finding it confusing but hopefully will get used to it soon!

Oo i LOVE no doubt. My first cd was boyzone – a different beat. An irish boyband you guys have probably never heard of. God i was in love with them when I was like 7 *swoon!*

Polefairy I can’t speak from experience but you should go! I’m sure you wont be made to do anything youre uncomfortable with. And I’ll see you there! 🙂

Well done, this is a move it took me ages to get, but its soo satisfying! Make sure you keep practising though, I kind of lost it when I didnt practise! 🙂 Enjoy!

Yep she's coming to dublin too, im doing the advanced class with her. Hope I'm good enough! : /

The site looks great! Will take some getting used to but definitely worth it. Nice work 🙂

As far as I know your head CAN be touching the ground during an elbowstand, but you mustnt be putting any weight on it
-
Oh thats always happens to mine, I literally just have to keep trying and twiddling it a bit, it eventually comes off really easily.. which is quite annoying in itself!
-
No that makes loads of sense. Is there any way to stop it??
-
Omg pole sweat, is that what it is?? Lately ive been feeling a slick on my pole thats like condensation or something, that must be it! Soo annoying, can’t get any moves, and grip aid doesn’t seem to help https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
-
Yeah it takes me ages to heat up my pole, even with the central heating and electric heater on, and if I leave my pole to watch a lesson or look at my last move it goes cold again!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

Please don’t try CKR to CAR, my CKR and CAR are both fine but going from one into the other is something I dont even want to do, Lol, your CKR looks super i’m sure you’ll get the CAR in no time https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Yes I definitely need to get doing some of those leg lifts and pole ups. I need some discipline!!

It’s actually probably so much better than you don’t have a pole so you can prepare. I got a set of little pink dumbells before I started poling and used them for a few weeks too. Im sure it helped. I did exercises I think I got them from Veena called YTI. Not sure if those specific ones are in the lessons, but the exercises that are there will help you. I should really look at those more often! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
You mum sounds cute https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I told my mam a few months after I got my pole and she didnt really seem to care! When you do tell her you could show her the more acrobatic pole videos on facebook to help her realise its not seedy? Having said that, people are going to hold on to their preconceptions. The other day I went to a family gathering and was rushing to a pole class, which my mam insisted I call a dance class, lol! Ah well, I’m happy and they can tell how muscly I am now so im clearly not just shaking my ass around a pole hahaha! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
Oh and shop around for lessons, there are so may places just out to fleece you and they’re not true pole classes if you get me. Generally classes here are 80 eur per term so in UK should be the same or less, and if you call up and ask about pole:student ratio and what poles they use, you’ll be able to tell if they really know what they’re doing. I learned from Veena’s lessons, but joined classes recently so now I do both. I just felt I needed a class to motivate me, but Im so glad I didnt learn solely from a class as I’d have learned at a much slower pace.
AND for the smoking thing, I dont know if you’re already into fitness but I find when i’m working on something, its easier to have a goal, like you know your exercise threshold is lower with smoking whatever.. But it is hard. I gave up smoking a few years back (although I didnt smoke loads) and even that wasnt easy, but stick with it, you’re young, it will be worth it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Geez that was a whopper post, well done if you actually read it hahaha!!

I have the same problem. Someone advised em to engage my abs when Im doing anything, including spins. It probably works, but I forget to do it. I’ve added 100 sit ups ot my routine and now I feel the burn, lol!

So nice of him to get you a pole though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif You could even just tell him, he might not mind. But yeah Im sure he wouldnt notice either https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Hey Mora!
I’m in Ireland, there are loads of UK polers on here! I live in a little apartment with my boyfriend and I have a pole, have to move the couch when I practise (usually!) You could take a term of lessons and see what you think before committing to having a pole, as they are expensive! Alot of people learn to pole dance without even owing a pole so thats no big deal.
Also, like you, I have a bad shoulder and it has gotten SO much better since I started poling. I think its down to strengthening the muscles.. but its different for everyone, just take things easy and you should be fine! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Don’t bother asking your GP about pole dancing lol, and if the GP has okay’d your shoulder, I’d personally recommend going to a physio instead, they know much more about muscular problems generally! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif
