Also the top hand can be in cup or true grip. 🙂 I think that’s about all my knowledge on the subject 😬

I’ve heard it called “lever grip invert” and “funny grip invert”. You can do it sideways or backwards. I’ve done it a few times into brass monkey, though it’s not my fave entry.

As per the xpole website your pole comes with a 125mm (5in) extension and a 250mm (10in) extension.

Yeahhh Challenges can be really motivating, but also really draining. I did find that doing them helped me get on the pole, then once I was there I played with more moves… but I also kind of burnt out. But again, life stressors probably played a big role in that too. I keep wanting to participate in more challenges, then right before it starts I usually end up talking myself out of it.

I think instagram can put a lot of additional pressure on pole. Even just keeping up with my feed is exhausting. Generally I try not to take it too seriously… or it becomes an issue.

Just another side note, lever/funny grip invert to brass monkey is kind of trending these days.

I don’t know if I’d mount it against 2×4. This would leave a lot of the mirror unsupported. If someone was to trip into the mirror or lean against it, it could crack.

Is it the wall in your pics/videos? Is it the chairrail that’s the issue? I’d remove the portion behind the mirror. I’ve installed and taken down chairrail and trim and stuff and it’s pretty easy. You can save the piece incase you want to put it back. Then you can just use woodputty to seal the seams 🙂

Yeah… you know I feel like I’m dealing with the same thing. I had a pretty scary fall from up the studio pole last Oct and that got in my head. I think it’s partially that… partially just general life stresses. I do really feel like the anxiety spills over into all areas of my life when it gets bad.

I’ve always kind of know what I wanted in life, what I was working for… and now I’m not feeling as focused and passionate about things. Im not sure if I need a shift, or if I’m just running away from things when they get hard. Tbd.

But anyway, I concur. Usually I can do something very very slowly until I feel better about it. But I avoid a lot of moves too. I used to love Russian paybacks and Brass bridges, but I had 2 people tell me how they fell badly from them and now they are in my head and they freak me out :/ even simple stuff on spin can freak me out. Invert to leg hang is A-ok. But invert to inverted crucifix can be freaky as hell.

I’m not so sure if it’s going away, or if it’ll get better, or if this is my new normal… as I get older my fears about most things seems to grow. Some of that may just be shaking off that immortal feeling of youth I was clinging to

Oh my goodness Tropical! Me too! All of a sudden I feel like I’m soooooo in my head about so many moves. Even ones I used to do just fine. I don’t really know why, but I think my stress level with family and work is also at a high level these days so I think my anxiety is spilling over.

ok after some research and look again at your pic that seems like the underside of the dome?

    I saw this post here

that looks like yours, still not sure what the white part on yours is… is that possibly messing the fit up? It looks like it sticks out.

Sorry youre having such a rough time! That sounds so scary!

I’m a bit confused by the picture… why does your dome have those holes? And that white plastic piece in the center?

I don’t want to alarm you, but is it possible it is a fake (aka dangerous!) Xpole?

It’s also possible I just don’t really understand what I’m looking at.

I reallllly want to fly to Australia and take classes with all these beautiful pole stars, now I’m adding you to the list!

  • Yes! I think you should do it. 💕 Every year a few people I know end up competing at the Arnold open.. and they say it’s a blast.

I think being pushed to make and perfect a full routine can be a great challenge and help you grow too. I say go for it!

Heights. :/ I don’t mind climbing to the top of the poles at the studio… but after 2 climbs i don’t love to be inverted. Especially hands free. Sometimes its fine and other times I start to freeze, and break out into a cold sweat and get dizzy. It actually happens sometimes when my husband and I do some scary hiking. I have cried through a few sections of trail.

That, and forearms stands. I’m not super comfortable in handstands (against something obviously) But forearm stands are just awful for me. I can’t even give it a little kick up, because I’m wayyyyy too hesitant and afraid.

Yes a photo would be helpful!

I do notice shorter people tend to have the pole more on their belly because they have to rotate towards the pole to get it in their kneepit. Longer legs can rotate away from the pole getting it more I. The hip pocket.

Anecdotally… shorter people tend to prefer inside leg hang over outside leg hang. 🙂

I could be totally wrong but I don’t think the one piece studio poles come in TG, only Chrome, SS and Brass. Thats what I heard about Xpoles US, might not be true everywhere… or anywhere for that matter 🙂

I redesigned my workout schedule for Jan. And I don’t really have any complete rest days on my cal… but I work Tuesday-Thursday and my job has me hustling so I put easy things on those days.

Which include: just a few pirouettes in each direction (both kinds). I don’t find these difficult. Just a coordination and muscle memory issue esp on my left. I love when people have great basics. So I’m working on making them super fantasticly kickass by the end of the year. And I work on my toe points, rolling my muscles, and I do a few easier shoulder stretches 🙂

So far I’m just starting out my schedule (2 weeks completed) but I find it’s working for me.

In class we’ll do a variety of grips. I usually tend to do true. But we are given a variety and different variations. Generally I’m working on them from the floor with my hands already on the pole and my chest facing the ceiling (I think I posted a link above). But the other day we did work on that cartwheel I posted. I just don’t think we went over the names, or if we did I’ve missed it. I haven’t tried it where you walk past the pole and then put your lower hand on though!! I want to try that.

I do feel pretty fortunate my instructor is crazy strong and deadlifts and Iron Xs in many grips… so she isn’t one that only teaches TG. Especially because I don’t love it. I do a few here and there to keep it accessible to me. One day I’d love to do a Phoenix… but I’m not overly focused on it.

Thank you Veena. That really clears things up.

I have a really tough time spotting differences in moves. I know when I first started i couldn’t tell if someone was doing true grip or split grip to save my life!
