OMG EROS, you sneaky little devil!!!!
I decided since I was already recording for today (and since I have puppy classes, a family member flying in, and a flexibility workshop tomorrow) I would try eros today.
Yikes! I got something… I mean I guess I got it for a second or two, but I certainly wouldn’t say I own it by any means. It’s amazing how poor my body awareness is. The first time I actually tried to lower the hooked leg, not the free leg down. SERIOUSLY?!?! Hahhaahah.
I wish I had more height… I was so caterpillared out from Ayesha and elbow grip butterfly that I didn’t want to try a straight edge (a move I never seem stable in… must practice!) So I did a little tumble down to brass monkey.. but before you know it I’m at the floor. Oh well.
But thanks for the lesson Veena! Walking the hands up was the key I was missing the first few times I tried it.

Honestly Shoog, I don’t think there is a single pair of heels in existence you couldn’t pull off… and those babies are purdy!
-
Oh I love them! I don’t think they look too fragile or anything.

It’s not very exciting but here is my split grip butterfly. Need to work on my other versions much more…. Never even tried forearms grip anything!
-
I catipillar in elbow grip and never really get that close to the pole… Hm, now I need to re-eval everything!!!
-
This was new to me (I never tried butterfly not in split grip). Realizing now that I probably should have had my chest against the pole for more arch, I’m so used to trying to create that space between myself and the pole… But it made it less stable when I was trying to arch… But after looking at photos, I think being closer to the pole would have been prettier.

Day 19: http://instagram.com/p/0bNYf7DLCY/
Not very archy… But I tried. I actually recorded a butterfly yesterday for the challenge today but it was in split grip… I didn’t realize that wasn’t today’s challenge! So I rerecorded in a rush…. I worked today and I have a continuing ed class tonight
I’ll post the other one later if anyone is interested :p

Day 17 http://instagram.com/p/0VCdpqDLF0/
This was fun. I feel like I usually do this with the inside arm holding me up… This was way more stable 🙂

PS – the lesson was very helpful… clearly my awareness of where my limbs are is so poor that if I didn’t have the lesson it would have been a pretzel 😛

Thanks Veena! I kept thinking… I got it.. then I’d watch it and realize I turned the wrong way or something.. Then I ended up watching and doing so many times I lost track of what was what.
My 1st issue was that I wouldn’t pivot enough and my inside leg would end up in the back…. (as pictured)
Then the other issue was just that it didn’t looks so smooth because for some reason I feel like I need to flip the direction of the back leg or something… Who knows, but it makes it little stutter… but maybe that just needs practice.

Personally (for the most part) I find Rihanna and Kanye’s personalities irritating… but throw in Paul McCartney and a really raw sound and I’m really liking it…

Also Father John Misty has grown on me lately… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6NuYJ0RzRg&list=PLcJ6bNhD7FNDKXiuYf44RVvYAwUn2Ogl4

Ouch!!!! I recorded both versions of ballerina today since I was already in the ballerina mode, and I think this one is more painful. Tomorrow’s looks better.
I think in the studio we call this one “twisted” because your hand goes to the opposite leg.

Just a resource I found helpful: http://www.polenation.com/
There are barely any reviews but the names of studios should give you some leads.

2 hand variations… (It’s hard to tell… Too much hair)

I’m probably going to echo Veena here…
I do feel out of place amongst my “peers” in general.
I had my son at 18… so my son’s friends parents (he is 11 now) are older than me, plus we live town that tends to be older… and that makes me feel really young sometimes, and not in a great way either… it makes me feel like a child. Also by nature I’m a tad ditzy and easy going when it comes to my son… and I think they see it as irresponsible. He gets excellent grades. I don’t know when his tests are because I don’t need to hound him to study, he takes it upon himself (plus is not a big talker).. so when they say “did you hear about how they only gave the 1 days notice to study for the test… I can only think to myself “what test?” and it really doesn’t matter cause he did fine and didn’t freak out he only had a day to study. Anyway, sometimes I feel like they look at me as a bad mom. But my kid kicks ass, so I’m doing something right.
Now all my 29 year old friends are having weddings and babies and I’m so far past that point in my life I feel out of place with them too. I can’t relate and everything has changed since I’ve had my son… the advancement in breast pump technology has apparently come a long way. Haha.
But I did go to a bar with my only single friend and I felt like a grandma in a college bar and I wanted to run away as fast as possible…
So I completely get it. I feel at such a different point in my life than basically anyone… but pole is this great thing that I feel like makes me feel happy and not alone. This community makes me feel happy and not alone. Its beautiful. I’ve poled with a few ladies in your age bracket and I have to say I have more in common with them than a lot of people my own age 🙂
PS- my coworkers talk about their hot flashes all the time and I don’t mind 😛
Hopefully someone has something more productive to add, I just wanted to say “i get it” 🙂
