Thank you guys, and thanks for the links Veena. I know it’s a learning curve but it’s good to have good form and learn from people who have experience 🙂
-
Ahhh it’s a tough one isn’t it. I work from home so I’m lucky that I can just slot it in but I dread to think what it’d be like if I worked and had to fit in around the people in the house too. What about getting up early and having a good session first thing in the morning – get your body wide awake and a good burst of endorphins to get the day off to a good start?

Oh rubbish, I didn’t see the notifications for this post (or any posts at all tbh – I thought everything had gone quiet). I must look so rude! Suddenly I now have an inbox full of the things so time to start wading through lol. I used to be on the worldwide splitters group but left right at the beginning because someone told me it was just a glorified chat room. I’ll add back into it then, thanks Polekat xx

Polekat do you have a particular programme you follow? I need to stretch regularly to help my legs and back, but don’t really know where to start.

MemberJanuary 26, 2015 at 6:45 am in reply to: recent blog post about pole and ‘bulking up’Yep, agreed! I build muscle VERY quickly, and pole definitely has been the thing that does this the quickest – and that’s saying something since I used to lift weights, and heavy weights at that! Some of the strongest girls in our classes don’t have visible muscle tone, and some of them do. It’s all in the body type!

MemberOctober 8, 2014 at 5:33 am in reply to: Anyone up for doing Veena’s 30 day programme?Day 8 of the take off and abs challenge done, yay! Question for everyone though – how do you count your twists on the abs challenge? Is a touch with an arm one count or is a touch with both arms one count because that’s each side completed? So imagine you’re twisting and your arm touches the pole, then you twist and your other arm touches the pole etc etc do you count 1,2,3,4, or do you count 1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,…..

I’ve made a point of building it into my day now so no excuses!! Day 3 of the abs challenge and the take off DONE!!

I had this exact problem and Veena is right, you need conditioning and strength work to improve it. I ignored it for a while and ended up with sore elbows and a shoulder injury through everything overcompensating so it’s really worth heeding everyone’s advice and stepping away from the stuff that aggravates it. Since mine started I have started all over conditioning workouts and I’m careful to work my forearms in my workouts and stretches too and it’s improved massively. I’m still not ready for split grip work but it’s definitely much stronger. Be patient and work on it and it’ll improve.

I need to get into a routine with this and build it into my day. My knee has been REALLY bad too so I’ve been so limited to what I can do. I’m starting afresh on Wednesday with @I polekat I and the others. Sorry for letting the side down guys. Promise I’ll work hard at it through October xx

MemberSeptember 23, 2014 at 8:48 am in reply to: Anyone up for doing Veena’s 30 day programme?Woohoo, day 4 done. I’m catching up! I think I’ll just do a day each day from now on. I know it’s not quite at day 7 where I should be tomorrow but it’s not far off. Maybe the next rest day I’ll skip and do the next day so that I do actually catch up to where I should be soon!

Haha, that’s real dedication when you’re lopping branches off trees!

MemberSeptember 17, 2014 at 10:08 am in reply to: Anyone up for doing Veena’s 30 day programme?Hi Veena, thanks for that. I haven’t actually been to the docs – it’s just been one of those things that’s happened over time and I’ve not thought to get checked out, but I think I will now you’ve mentioned it. Funny how we just accept things that our bodies do without worrying about it isn’t it. It bugs me every now and again but if I rest goes away so I am just cautious about anything that involves that sort of lunge or squat movement. Will get it checked though, thanks.
As for the video, must be my PC then. I’ll see if I can find some info to fix it. A bit annoying missing the first 3 or so seconds of each one!

MemberSeptember 17, 2014 at 6:00 am in reply to: Anyone up for doing Veena’s 30 day programme?Polekat I’m still going to do my usual 4 classes and 2 small routine classes each week. By stepping away from the pole I mean at home – not doing any other home practice other than the 30 day plans so that I can focus on that. I don’t think I could step away from everything altogether for 30 days!!!
-
Thank you beautiful ladies, you’re all right, I totally know it. Maybe I was tired, maybe I didn’t have enough energy, maybe the pole was cold, maybe the pole was hot, maybe it was because I was at home and not in the studio, maybe I just need a bloomin rest!!! It could be so many things couldn’t it. And as much as I don’t want to think of anyone struggling I’m glad to hear there are others that feel the same sometimes.
I’ve started the 30 day abs challenge and 30 day take off today so I’m going back to the start, building myself up again. Freestyle floorwork is definitely something I need to work on so I’m going to do more than that too.
Love this site – thank you for the support xxx

Haha, Runemist34 my instructor uses the Popeye/Olive Oil explanation too lol. Quite often we’ll have a session where she says “right, today do everything on your good side once and your bad side 3 times”. It’s a pain in the backside but by the end of it you can guarantee that the weak side is a little less weak and a little more comfortable to work on. Practice practice practice, that’s the way to sort it x

MemberSeptember 17, 2014 at 4:21 am in reply to: Anyone up for doing Veena’s 30 day programme?Woop, both day 1 programmes done. I actually think it’s great that I’ve had to take a bit of a step away from the pole to focus on my muscles and improve my form.
Veena if you read this I have a couple of questions though – I have what I call cracky knees. They feel uncomfortable and click and crack so things like squats and lunges are uncomfortable for me. Are there things I could replace them with, or variations? I’d like to complete the entire programme but I think if I can’t replace these bits I’m going to miss out on big chunks.
Also, the beginning of the videos play black until the picture kicks in. Is this just me or is everyone getting it?
Good luck fellow day 1 peeps. Enjoy! xx

MemberSeptember 17, 2014 at 3:10 am in reply to: Anyone up for doing Veena’s 30 day programme?I think I’m much the same TropicalPole. I’ve only been doing it for 6 months and I love working on the harder stuff but I think this past couple of days has reinforced for me that I need to get the basics really solid too. Plus I want to improve my core strength which is why I am going to do the abs along with the 30 day take off. I don’t have any challenges for myself other than that really, but I think that’s plenty to be going on with 😉

MemberSeptember 16, 2014 at 9:46 am in reply to: Anyone up for doing Veena’s 30 day programme?@tropicalpole deal!! 🙌 I’ll do both then. I meant to join in with the abs one and just didn’t (no excuse, just didn’t!) and I need the group motivation to do the 30day take off to plan. This is gonna be fun.

Are we doing 30 day take off AND abs challenge, or one then the other? -
Oh really, thank goodness. It feels so bizarre that some days I can do some bigger technical moves and yet today not even a pole sit for very long. And as for inverting – I managed to cut my wrist with my nail in the process of attempting that – don’t ask me how, I have no idea! I wanted to crack on through some of the lessons on here and learn some new stuff. I guess today is not the day!

What a genius idea Veena! I’m never going to look at kids craft stuff in the same way again!!

Hi 6562 (sorry, had to shorten that one, lol),
I’ve found everyone here to be totally amazing and supportive so far, and I’ve learnt such a lot too. I’ve been pole dancing for about 6 months (minus 2 useless months due to an injury) and so still consider myself to be relatively new to it but I’ve got BIG aspirations after seeing the vids on here. Enjoy! xx
