Yup this happened at the studio today while me and a co worker were practicing by ourselves (thank god not during a class!) On a little mynx pole. Thankfully she was just doing a fireman spin and wasnt hurt but it scared the crap out of us! Check poles regularly!

OK for an update! I got one piece of the extension off the pole by using the chopsticks things the pole came with.  Other than that the other extention that was near the base was stuck and I guess something happened where the threading got siezed (my stupid ex obviously didn't know how to screw a pole together).  So I'm lucky that I have a friend who builds submarienes and snuck it into work to use a vice and 2 other strong men to get it apart! So it really was stuck good! But now it's all better and residing in my living room 😀

Believe me I know exactly how you feel! I was taunted and teased in school my whole life so much so that I skipped class most of my senior year 🙁 I still have nightmares about it too, so im very sensitive to rude comments and people questioning what I do also. I just started trying to learn bellydancing and its hard!!!! I thought you were fantastic!! Xo

I totally agree with the “palm grip” theory! Basically you want most of the weight and pressure to be on the palm as opposed to the fingers, so uou can adjust and wiggle your fingers. I figured this out when trying to balance in a twisted grip one day!
When I first started pole I had severe pain where my fingers meet the palm but after so many years of getting stronger it has gone away! Yippy!
