This is a short introduction to spin mode. We'll discuss the differences between static spins and spinning pole spins. Slow and controlled movements are the key to quality continuous momentum. You'll find detailed instruction on spin mode at the end of the individual spin lessons.

ahlemh20014818I have a question, the day after I use spinning I feel very dizzy and seasick, i can't leave home, so freaking sick, is that normal, like is it going to be better? (I have been hurt to my internal ear),I feel very weak and dizzy the day AFTER.
Mar 30, 2012
FuzzyNavelahlemh--that sounds like more trouble than it is worth, imo. Inner ear issues can be debilitating, my mom injured her inner ear and it was so bad she couldn't do any exercises that had a lot of movement (she could walk, but running made her super sick.) She would take 1/2 bonine tablet for a few days. Have you tried medications like bonine? If they make you sleepy, just try half.

VeenaI have had this same problem when my sinuses are acting up! Try doing only upright holds for a few weeks and remember to spin slowly don't worry about speed until you become acustom to spin. Give yourself time and add floorwork to your practice time so you're not spinning and spinning.
Mar 30, 2012
VeenaAhlemh, let me know if any of these suggestions work (both fuzzy and mine) I'm sure their are others with inner ear issues who want to know if spinny pole is an option for them!
Mar 30, 2012
ahlemh20014818thanks to both of you.
@fuzzynavet:i dont know bonine I dont live in USA :)
@veena: I am ok with the spins it is only the spinning pole which makes me freaking sick but defintelity will give a try to moves with slower speed; If I have any other advice,I ll let you know. It takes a full day to recover everytime I use spinning, bouh

SaphyreI just started spinny mode recently, and now I use it more than static. I find that it doesn't irritate my forearms as much. Plus, it is just too much fun! Can't wait to get some more tips!

VeenaMost of the updated spin lessons will include spinning pole at the end of each lesson! :)

ReinaThis is a wonderful addition to your lessons...I passed on a plain static pole for a static/spinning pole. Found myself learning routines way before I really knew much. Beginner lessons are great for strengthening and learning how to. Thanks Veena.

PorshkaWhat are the benefits of using static when beginning? Is it easier? I have pretty much always used spinny...I started out with static but quickly switched, figuring that if my goal would be to eventually use spinny anyway, why not just start there? But, I also would hate to unknowingly bypass an important step in training.

VeenaI place static pole first because its a bit different than spin mode and you need to learn timing and have an understand of the swing and push of the legs. Many dancers who have started using only spinny end up havin a hard time learning static spins.

shepnicwish i knew this when i started using a spinning pole .... i much prefer my static pole though to be honest
Sep 25, 2012
VeenaI like static pole best too Shepnic :)

katalyzedI was just about to ask Veena whether she prefers static or spinny. I have been thinking about the possibility of buying a spinny pole when I move past intermediate lessons. It seems nice that you would have less friction on your skin. But at the same time, the concept that you are not actually moving around your pole is very strange! I'm glad I'm learning on static for now.

VeenaYeah I like to do spinning pole sometimes, but I find static pole is more challenging to me, because you have to create interest and movement without the help of spin.

Asset773OMG This video is so helpful!!!!! Especially how to not feel dizzy!

Sparky 3 Previous Paid MemberLove this! Hi Veena! So do you think that when my doctor clears me to start working out again, would it be easier to try spinning pole? I have never tried putting my pole on spinning mode. I have been doing all the moves on static ( for the last 2 years). I am still at least 6 weeks away from doing any heavy exercising. I an so bored waiting to heal!! Missing my pole and chair so bad! 😏😩

VeenaSpin can be a nice place to start if you already understand the static spin technique. πŸ’œ

StudioVeena's lessons are the best online lessons on the net. All of Veena's lessons are very through, concise and she breaks down the moves, so well and gives options to get in and out of moves which I love. I <3 SV, you will too!
