I know there are a couple of threads about pole shoes right now, but here goes.

So I already know I want to get pleasers because I’ve heard such great things about them. However I’m a bit stuck on the style to get. I was browsing shoes and I fell in love with these: http://www.heels2heaven.co.za/images/detailed/12/kiss-209uv-nhpnk.jpg
These are in second place: http://www.heels2heaven.co.za/images/detailed/12/kiss-209-bp.jpg
As you can see I like pink 😛

Anyway, I was super psyched and ready to order them… until I looked around online. Apparently training shoes should rather be more practical than “fancy”. I also read that the shoes with the clear straps like these (eg. http://www.heels2heaven.co.za/images/detailed/12/kiss-208das-c.jpg) would be preferable as they last longer and won’t scuff or show damage as easily/quickly as the coloured ones.

What I’m wondering is would I be better off getting the clear ones instead of the coloured ones? I don’t want to have to replace my shoes too soon… Do the clear ones really last longer? I’ll be training on carpet, if that’s a factor at all.

The straps on the pink ones look pretty sturdy to me.
I even think I have them in white but I like clear more (just for preference not practicality). I use them most out of my pole shoes and I’ve gone through many! I don’t feel like they are special when it comes to durability.

The pink shoes have reinforced stitching along the straps and the clear ones do not and are also in a thinner material leading me to think the clears will tear more easily.

Also, I prefer to train in the type of shoe I would perform in so I can get used to them and feel comfortable.

I have the clear ones by Pleasers which just have a toe strap- no ankle strap- and am pleased with the stability and quality. My feet fit just perfect into them, then my feet get hot which welds them to my feet even more- perfect! I was scared shoes with buckles or other fastening could damage my pole, so I stuck with these mules, and found them perfect for my needs! I always appreciated dancing baregfoot all the more after, as although the shoes themselves stuck to my pole, my feet were always ultra sweaty 😛

I don’t wear my favorite heels if I’m doing things that might scuff them. If you dance on carpet though, it shouldn’t be an issue! You can alway buy the cool pair you love for videos and performing, then get a less expensive pair for practice and cover them if you wanna change out the color! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0_J8aJZLN0

In my experience clear strap heels are sturdiest. Colored straps from Pleaser will peel after use. Any heel that isn’t the standard clear strap (fancy ones) will always so wear faster or even break. You should always look for a reinforcement tab where the heel connects. Personally I prefer Ellie heels because they use material reinforcement tabs instead of thin plastic. And Veena had some great tips on how to keep heels nice.

Thank you so much for the advice everyone!

What I’ve decided to do is get the clear ones in the same style. I’ll use them to mess around and practice with so I can get used to dancing in heels. Then later on down the road, I’ll get my fancy pair for special occasions 😀

Thanks for the decoration tips, Veena. I might just try them to jazz up my clear platforms in the meantime 🙂
