hcg drops

calipolepixie
Anyone try these? Does it work? I workout everyday, low carb eat & calorie count but my weight loss has ceased thinking about hcg drops but dont know enough about it(googled reviews but didnt find answers I was looking for). Also I have low thyroid issues so was wondering if hcg would affect my thyroid either good or bad.
Any nurse, dietician, personal trainer polers please chime in.
Thanks!

Hi Cali, I used to see a Bio-Identical Hormone specialist and she was totally against this. There are just too many unknowns with the long term effects. I also had throid issues, and she did not like that combo at all. It can make your thyroid even more out of whack. This was just one doc's opinion. I'm sure you'll hear many more.

The first time using hcg it was I was very successful. The second time yielded poor results due to my lack of follow through. It's very important that you don't just stop the drops, you must go through maintenance and stabilization prior to the discontinuation of hcg. I went on and off the drops a few times during my second attempt and failed to do the maintenance or stabilization. Needless to say the seams on my jeans paid the price, and my now elastic waist band continues to do what it does best......stretch!! If done right you can have great long term results. Good luck! :)

I do not know anything about the drops and all the forms of HCG out there. I am an RN and years ago worked at a diet clinic on the side that gave the shots for weight loss. I myself would not do them due to the injections were hormone based and too many unknowns of long term effects. Also truthfully everyone was put on a very restricted diet. So was it the shots or the diet? Also people gained the weight right back.
I am older and have hypothryoidism and take medication for that. I have to watch everything I put in my mouth now which I hate but have to deal with. I limit my carbs, sugar and alcohol. I do cardio everyday even if it is just a 2 mile fast walk. Once a month I do raw foods for a week. Juices, fruits, raw veggies and nuts.
Make sure your thyroid levels TSH, T3 adn T4 are in the percentile they should be. Also try to jump start your metabolism with an increase in cardio or raw food fast for a few days. You can check with your Doctor about the HCG. Hope this helps !!

I worked for a clinic that used these for weight loss and as a supplement to stimulate testerone production in men. First the drops are not real hcg, so that may be a red flag for you. Real hcg must be injected and prescribed by a doctor. Second, like a few others posted the hcg diet requires extreme calorie restriction. The doctors I've worked with have said they believe the weight loss is due to the restricted diet not the drops, since their male patients who were using it to stimulate hormone production didn't lose the weight being that they didn't do the diet portion. It can also stimulate testosterone production in women that may result in hair growth in unwanted places and other unwanted side effects.
Also, I have a few family members who have done the diet and they always gain just as much weight back if not more when they go back to eating normally. Personally I wouldn't do it just knowing the side effects. Being skinny isn't worth me risking growing a beard or something worse. Best thing to do is check with your doctor, especially since you're dealing with thyroid issues.

A coworker of mine died taking these. She had an unknown underlying condition that the combo of diet, hormones, and congenital defect was too much for her.....

I did hcg drops and diet very successfully. I did it right and followed maintenance. You cannot go back to eating the same junk you dis before, or obviously you will gain weight. That's how we gain in the first place. I did it as a last resort, after working out every day, seeing a trainer, a nutritionist, having lipo, you name it. I list 22 pounds on the diet and kept it off while building great pole muscle. It's been 2 years since I did it. I did a ton of research before attempting. Every person is different and I would def. Study up and do what feels right to you.

Like hevaletia said, you should just read about it. Know what your body can take, consult with a doc. Too much of anything can kill someone, and everyone's body is different. I am currently taking HCG drops and it has been working. I am losing about 1-2 pounds a day, it's tough to be restricted to such a lean and green diet but it's stepping stones for making better choices in order to live a healthy life. =)

Thanks guys for the feedback. Since being laid off I currently don't have medical insurance, so I won't touch the HCG drops, you guys' input is enough to keep me away from it.
@platinumani YIKES about your coworker dying because of HCG drops. I'll steer clear.
@kali21 do you have a profile on myfitnesspal? I do. If you want to be friends on there inbox me your MFP username and Ill send you a friend request :)
