has anyone watched the tv show the DR.s ? they so crushed my dreams lol
Posted by TinyDynamics09 on March 22, 2011 at 7:58 pmso on a recent show of the show. they say the only way a woman can get her abs back after pregnancy is by getting a tummy tuck. that no matter how hard you try or how many crunches you do that your muscles are so stretched out , you will never get them back. thus inevitably the tummy. is this true? i see so many girls have babies and by the graces of genetics or hard work TA-DA!!!! ABS-O-PRESTO! I would love to hear what you have to say because then what is the point of doing all this grueling work. and shelling out money for things if it cant happen.

Don't believe everything you see on tv. look at rebecca butcher, zoraya judd, and our own Veena have kids.I know one or two women personally who have had kids and have rockin tummies (both of whom are now over 40 too) The only problem I see occurring is skin stretching hiding it. I am sure some of the mommies here can let you in on what they did to help their stretching.

Are they talking about muscle or skin… both? The skin for some will stretch and you'll have extra (but this can get better over time) for others, there will always be a bit extra skin. I doubt I'll ever loose all of my skin but oh well!
You can totally get your tummy back in shape though!!!!! I have sexier and stronger abs now then I did before my 4 boys! If you had abdominal separation…..the "rectus abdominis" ( 6 pack ) can have a slightly different appearance after baby. You also need to be careful about the ab exercise you do when getting back into shape. The rectus abdominis will never be the exactly the same as before baby….BUT its not a huge deal for most. Its really NOT A BIG DEAL! I had abdominal separation with my 3rd and my abs are very strong and I think they look fine! I Dislike shows like the DRs because a lot of it is hype and meant to cause ppl worry or fear about things that are not really a big deal!!! You can help elemenate the pooch look here is a vid I did about your belly after baby. https://www.studioveena.com/videos/view/d650d310-c3b4-11df-bc90-001b21721e0c

yes thats exactly what they were talking about muscle seperation, i had no clue what they were talking about. I dont even have a clue on how to tell if my are seperated. But how they said it was like "you dumb dumb, you will never look like how you use to." i understand i will never be a size 4 again but I do need to be healthy. My BMI is so close to boiling over into the obesity numbers. I really think they should have really thought about using the word "never" in their segment

I think they were just talking from a medical standpoint. Technically the abs will never be the same… But… You don’t have to have surgery in order to have great looking abs after babies.
To see if you had separation, lay down on your back, place your fingers on your bellybutton palm facing you. From there do a small crunch, if you feel more than 2 fingers worth of soft space then you may have had significant separation

Oh also forget the bmi index it’s crap In my book as well. Weight doesn’t matter nearly as much as a healthy lifestyle!

-does a little happy dance- it's barely one finger. You made me feel so much better. So now its about focussing on healthy choices and taking it one day at a time.

I can only speak for myself but I have had 3 kids and with 1 and 2 I was able to get a flat firm tummy afterwards but with number three I had giant stretch marks and now I have poochy saggy skin where there marks are so I think if the skin is damaged by stretch marks then tummy tuck is the only option.

Yay Veena!! Fear mongers!! I hate 'em.. Glad at your still young age you can see the forest for the trees, and help others to do so! :):)
(I'm really enjoying my first day here!)

I have 2 kids (3yrs & 18months) – I NEVER thought I would be back to a smaller size after having them back to back, but pole changed my life! Don't listen to others – while you might not fit into your old stuff now, it doesn't mean you wont down the line.
Keep your chin up :o) As long as you are making healthy choices and having fun with your pole workouts, that is all you need :o)

Dont believe the hype! if your stomach muscles didnt separate during pregnancy, you can totally get those abs back. I had three c sections. my lower abdominal muscles (from the navel down) actually separated due to butcher block old school vertical c section. you can tell by placing your fingers on the bottom of your navel and press in. if your muscles are separated u can feel iy. also, when u do a crunch, your lower ab muscles form s peak,/\

oops totally didn’t see veena had already touched on muscle deportation. I agree with her lol

dayum autocorrect. seperation not deportation wtf… 🙂
