X-Pole X-pert XX or Platnium Stages Extreme?
Posted by UTpoler on May 25, 2010 at 9:43 pmHas anyone used the Xpole Xpert XX and Platnium Stages Extreme? I’m having such a hard time deciding which one to get!
I have vaulted ceilings so the Xpert won’t work for me today, but they’re releasing a vaulted ceiling bracket in July/Aug sometime. So I could get Xpert and use it in my basement (standard 8′ ceilings) for now, and when the brackets come in move it upstairs to my living room or bedroom (higher vaulted ceilings).
Or I could go with the Platinum Stages pole (although it is more expensive).
Both do static or spinning. Which should I buy?! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
These are the links to the two poles:

I personally prefer the X-Pole but idk what to tell you. LOL
Maybe it depends on what finish you like? Or if you have any experience with one or the other? Or price maybe?

Thanks for responding, SissyBuns. The studio I attend has both brass and chrome poles. I prefer brass for the easier grip but chrome is far more common so I was going to get chrome. I figure if I can do a trick on chrome, then I sure as hell should be able to do it on brass, right? Hehe.
Have you used a Platnium Stages Extreme pole before? Is there a specific reason you prefer the Xpole?

I have an X-pole and I do love it for the winter, the chorme gets super grippy when it’s humid out though and I stick right to it.
In the summer I use my Platinum Stages Stainless Steel pole – in the winter it’s nearly impossible to do much when it gets dry out.
Most people prefer chrome, but I have found as long as you don’t us a lil mynx stainless steel pole, you may not find much difference between the two poles.

PS has been having all sorts of quality issues lately and from my experience their customer service SUCKS. PS is also stainless, not chrome. However, I really like that Star Standalone that PS has out now, but again it is not without issues.
I know a few people have been having some problems with the new Xperts but I believe that XPole is trying to get things fixed as soon as humanly possible.
That being said, if I had to choose between the two you have listed I would go with XPole. (Oh, and I would buy it through House of Pole….hint hint).

Thanks for the input!!! I think I’m leaning more towards the Xpole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I’m going to have to.. represent for Stainless Steel, as I always must!
…Stainless doesn’t get as miserable hot as Chrome, and your hands don’t supersweat. Platinum Stages Polers, if you notice what people dance on, do not wipe their hands on their ass nearly as much as chrome users.
Unfortunately, Stainless needs breaking in. And customer service for PS is.. quite bitchy on occasion. You can throw your PS pole down on the floor and dent it without suffering finish troubles, since while Chrome is a coating, Stainless is whatever the pole density is. …. But.. yeah.. not often do we throw our PS poles down on the floor.

Thanks for the input on chrome versus stainless! Gosh, to be honest, I hadn’t really even looked at the differences between the two. (blush)
I checked and my studio uses stainless (Orig ‘Lil Mynx permanent poles)….so I am used to stainless and brass.
Now I’m thinking I’ll go with PS New Extreme Super Pole instead….. Hmmmmm

Ok, I still haven’t purchased by pole. I know, I know, I’m horrible at making decisions. I spend a ton of time analyzing everything to make sure I won’t have regrets later. Heh.
So, right now I’m still debating pole finish. In my decision this is where I’m at with my thought process:
I live in Utah so the weather is extreme:
summer = hot and dry
winter = freezing and humid outside but extremely dry inside (due to building’s heaters)My skin is dry in the summer and very dry in the winter.
In the studio I go to they use stainless and brass so that’s what I’ve learned on. In the winter the stainless was fine but I’ve noticed now that it’s summer and hot, it’s very slippery since the studio doesn’t have AC (my home does though so maybe slippery stainless won’t be a prob there?). So, with all that detail….what do you think? Are the votes with stainless or chrome???
Thanks for your input!

I haven’t used any PS poles yet, but I started learning on stainless and then later switched to chrome X-pole. As I remember, we had much less sweaty hands/slipperiness issues with the stainless in the summer. I’ve just been to class today and the chrome X-stages disintegrated into a greasy mess, we couldn’t even sit on them because we’d just slide down. I also remember barely wiping my hands on stainless even though I was a beginner back then. I developed horrible sweaty hands after we switched to chrome, it might not be a coincidence.
I’m not sure about X-pole US, but in the UK they have a horrible customer service. We’ve ordered X-stage carry cases 5 months ago and they still haven’t come. Another friend of mine waited for more than 4 months for a tiny piece of extension. So I guess you’ll have to deal with either bad anyways https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Have you looked into the TG X-poles? They have better grip than chrome and stainless.

I’m happy with my PS pole, which I had to get because of my vaulted ceilings. I liked that it was adjustable and I could move it around.
The only problem is that the vaulted ceiling attachment needs to be affixed to the ceiling, it doesn’t move around, and I wasn’t entirely sure where I wanted to keep it. So at the moment I have it in a room with flat 9′ ceiling, and it’s working out fine, but I may move it into the room with the vaulted ceiling (but installing the fixture will be a project that high up!)I had a problem with the pole getting increasingly slippery, and called PS; they told me to use 409 (or any type of cleaner that wasn’t "streak free"), instead of alcohol.

I’ve owned both x-pole chrome and just bought a platinum stages extreme stainless steel. I had an issue with my extension piece not screwing together correctly with another piece. When I called customer service last week, they didn’t even ask ONE single question!!! They immediately told me they were shipping me a new piece! I couldn’t believe it, I was all prepared to support my claim with pictures, video, and so forth, but they didn’t ask for it. I love the stainless finish, it is so easy to clean and my both just slithers around the pole when I do spins – no pole burn!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/alien.gif I ordered it from the platinum stages store on ebay, so I got it for 300 plus 50 shipping.
I contemplated getting the new x-pert, but I’ve just read too many negatives about the joint.

am taking forever to purchase a new pole bc reallly want to pole outside so would need stand alone or stage pole (prob SA) but not sure how stable and easy to use they are… so maybe just go w new xpert but heard some not great thimgs so don’t know what to think.. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

I know what you mean, pole-twista….I too am having the hardest time trying to decide what to get. As soon as I think I’ve made my mind up, I second guess myself and start telling myself to buy something different. Ugh, why can’t there be a pole-walmart with display units so we can try them out before buying?! Heh
