I'm celebrating! After three years and many rounds of revisions, my pole dancing novel is DONE!!!

I'm a serious book nerd. When I first started pole dancing, I tried to find whatever pole books were out there. I didn't have much luck. There were a few tutorial type books, and plenty of sleazy romance novels, but I couldn't find any fiction books that talked about pole dancing as an athletic or artistic pursuit. I found this annoying.

So, I decided to take an old piece of advice and write the book I wanted to read. I centered my book on a fictional studio named Revolutions!. It follows the teacher and four of her beginner students.

Here's the summary: There are many stereotypes about pole dancers. Now that she is one, Corine is convinced that none of the stereotypes are true. She isn't a stripper, isn't making any money, and hasn't had a date in years. Love is what made her open Revolutions! in the first place, and love is the only thing that keeps her going. But she also loves her family, and wishes she could do more to support them during her mother's illness.

Her level one students show up to class with their own set of wishes and expectations. Joanna wants to be as seductive as an exotic dancer. Or at least work up the courage to talk to her beautiful coworker. Desert Sky wants to open herself up to new creative energies. Wanda wants to get some exercise in a place that won't bring back painful memories, and Micks just wants her sister to get off her back.

But pole dancing defies everyone's expectations, and Corine and her students find themselves changing in ways they hadn't anticipated.

Writing this book was quite an undertaking! If I knew how much time and effort it would take at the beginning, I might never have started. But now that it's finished I'm insanely proud. It's a darn fine book if I do say so myself.

I still have a lot of work to do before I see my novel in print. Right now I'm looking for beta readers, and after I incorporate their feedback I'll start the search for an agent. But right now I need to take a moment and celebrate this milestone!
