crazykitten - Try it from reverse to build strength! I learned all my handsprings from the floor, but afterward figured out you can lower yourself into them from various inverted moves. For example, to practice the twisted grip handspring in reverse, look at how this dancer inverts into the Inverted Crucifix and then positions her hands in the twisted grip (at 2:07): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1dm...
She then goes into the Catwoman, but you can just as easily tuck your chin and let your hips fall away from the pole into the handspring. There's a lot more control, so you build up endurance and strength.

crazykitten - But it's looking great! This would just be if you wanted to work on balance and holding it. And it's always fun to know how to transition into handsprings from inversions :)

crazykitten - Not necessarily easier, but it is very effective for building balance and endurance.
