MIDDLE SPLIT STRETCH

Getting Started Stretching

Vertical - Hi Veena, I have a question for you. I have been trying to improving my middle split and still there's a long way to go. I've asked my instructor today for advice. She told me it's very hard to improve without a stretching partner as the body can only go so far without external force. I am a bit discouraged after heating that . What's your opion on this?

StudioVeena - I don't feel you have to have a stretching partner to see improvement. I've never had one! I have always stretch using my own body weight and gravity. If you find your hitting a point where your not improving, try different stretches or changing the order in which you perform your stretches.

Have you been using the Middle Splits Routine, if so for how long? Have you also been using the individual lessons too? And how long have you been working on the middle splits?

Vertical - Hi Veena , thank you for your response to my question. I have been stretching in general ever since I started practicing pole, which is about 14 months ago. However I haven't been dedicating specific flexibility training time. The left and right split just came naturally as I have always been flexible since I was a kid. I only starting to pay individual attention to my middle split since I signed up to your studio in oct this year. Now my body can almost stay flat in a sitting V stretch. And i seem to have no problem in stretching eaxh side individually. However no matter how hard I try when I put two sides together I feel that I am very restricited by my flexibility and the muscle in the inner thigh close to the knee is very tight.

StudioVeena - So it sounds like your adductors are tight. Also a month isn't a very long time so dont worry yet!! For some it takes weeks of stretching and others months or years! Try including some extra stretches for the adductors an don't forget to foam roll :) try stretching the abductors as well because they are the opposing muscle group. You can find out which muscle group is focused on for each lesson by reading the discriptions :)

Vertical - Hi Veena, guess what? Today I have achieved my middle spilt! I will post a photo soon to prove it! Thank you for your support and advice. BTW, I have achieved this without a stretching buddy!

CapFeb - When I do the cross legged variation, I feel the stretch in my hamstring on the leg that is in front. I think I'm doing it wrong @_@
