Handspring Mount

Msmeliciously - Hi Veena, I got this move about 4 months ago and it is also one of my favorites. I recently went on a 1 month+ pole sabbatical (involuntary) and now when I do this move, it's like I never learned it, and to make things worse, my right wrist gets sore after and I have a harder time holding myself up. Help!!

StudioVeena - Since you had time off tue pole I would suggest working on conditioning and strength for a week or two.

Msmeliciously - Thank you! Sigh..... I'lll be laying off of this move (bummer, really like this move!) until my wrist can take it again, glad you have a wrist section for conditioning, it helps!

pegasusaerialfitness - when you are kicking up. Does it feel more like kicking up into a handstand against the wall a having the hips sideways...(like a real cartwheel?) once your up I start to get confused about the the hips...the start looks more like a traditional cartwheel, but the end looks like it feels more like a handstand. For some reason my brain has a harder time figuring out the moves that use momentum.

StudioVeena - It doesn't feel like a real full cartwheel.

SaschaPoles - V where should your dominant hand be? My stronger arm is my right arm (even though I'm left handed). So should my right hand be up top or on bottom?

StudioVeena - Try it both ways, sometimes you'll be surprised as to which works better. :) I'm right handed and use my Left on top, but most right handed ppl also Shoulder mount on the right, but I SM on my left. LOL so try both.

SaschaPoles - Thanks V!!! I tried it about 12 times last night and finally got it!! I just have to smooth it out now instead of BANGING my foot up there with the grace of an elephant. :)

SaschaPoles - Ok I must have been inebriated when I wrote that comment because I don't have this move at all. I WANT IT SO BAD!!!!!!!!

StudioVeena - Lol Sascha!

Debss - We've just started working on this in class, but we haven't even attempted a split grip straight edge yet - would you recommend having a solid split grip straight edge before trying this Veena?
on Jul 21, 2012 -
StudioVeena - You know, some find doing a cartwheel mount into a straight edge or V position is easier than moving into it from off the pole. You could give it a try. You may want to try the half cartwheel mount first to understand the mechanics of it. :) good luck!
