The Inverted Crucifix, is an intermediate move but beginners can also work on this one by using a Reverse Handstand. This is taught from the ground first, so beginners feel free to try this one, but without the invert!

Strengthens: Adductors, Quadriceps, Hamstrings, Gastrocnemius/calf
TrilogyMIA - i keep sliding down when i do basic invert .... maybe im not pressing hard enough?

StudioVeena - Can you explain more what you mean? Are the hands sliding when you do a basic invert? or did you mean your sliding in the Inverted Crucifix?

TrilogyMIA - Veena,
I'm sliding down when im going to take my hands my hands off to go in to crucifix ! so i cant take them off because if i do i will hit the floor! :/

StudioVeena - Your legs have to be up high enough that the knees can grip the pole too. The knees and legs are gripping BEFORE you take the hands off. If you can't bring the knees up high enough on the pole you need to go back and work on the basic invert until you become stronger.

TrilogyMIA - I got it :)))))))))

the key is not to be scared i still put my hands in the floor for a second

poloballerino - Wow, Veena - I love this lesson. I do not want to attempt inverts for many more weeks yet, as I feel NOWWHERE near strong/confident enough at nearly a month in. I'm placing a "goal" to try inverting by 3mo. So this move (in the beginner way seems like a great way to get used to the feel of being "upside down", safely, without the need to invert. Thanks for all your great videos.

Runemist34 - Hey Veena, I'm having issues with the grip! Specifically, when I invert, my hands end up between the thighs, and when getting into position, I can't seem to get my thighs in the right position for any kind of gripping. Is this normal? Should I be gripping the pole mostly from just-above-knees and down (or up?) toward the feet?

StudioVeena - As your invert becomes stronger your knees will end up higher than the hands. Be sure your tucking the pole into the armpit. Try taking a look at the new basic invert lesson. The POC will be from the upper insides of the knees and up along the thigh. Also you are squeezing with the calves. Try it from a reverse hand stand if you're able.

StudioVeena - One is not better then the other. Both have good points and down falls. 45 is industry standard for the most part now and it's easier on the joints when doing split grip and other moves involving heavy use if the hands.
