  • Which Jamilla DVD to buy?

    Hello ladies!

Has anyone got any of the Jamilla DVDs? I want to buy one but I don’t want to get something that’s too ‘beginner’ for me, nor something way out of my reach. I’m thinking of buying Volume 3 or 4: http://www.artofpole.com/shop.html

So what I’m asking is… if someone has the DVDs, could you tell me what moves she covers in them? (Not a giant list of course, just enough so I get the idea of the level she teaches in each one.)

You know, honestly I love volume 2, there are a few moves on it I still cannot do. There are a lot of things that on there that I would consider intermediate – it goes over inverting, spotting and a few inverted tricks and combos. I’d start there and move to volume 3.

Another great option is the Vertical Dance DVD’s the beginner DVD ends with inverting and the volume 2 picks up with inverting and offers tips and tricks on each and every move and has plenty of moves that will keep you busy awhile.

Both Series are very well done and include great warm ups and cool downs and safety instruction.

Hi there, I also and interested in Jamilla’s DVD. BUT i have a static pole and I read she teaches on a spinning pole. Can I still learn from her dvds? Thanks

It might be my imagination but I was pretty sure she switched from spinning to static. You can still learn. Some moves will just be harder on a stationary pole, almost all are still doable.

She teaches on both because certain moves are just impossible or really hard on static. From what I have seen in her first two DVD’s the pole is on static most of the time. She will teach a move on the floor or in static and then say something before doing the move in spin mode.

Oh and like other SV members say, even if you are more advanced you can still benefit from all of her DVDs.

The prices on the website are for AUSTRALIAN dollars so the price of the set is always lower in US dollars. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif

Definitely worth buying the whole set, I think. The Aussie conversion rate was VERY favorable when I got mine…and since you pay the same shipping more or less no matter how many DVD’s you buy…may as well get all five.

Most of my "formal" instruction on pole moves has come from her DVD’s. I do her stretch workout 3x a week. I actually rescued an old, dead television from the attic and set up a DVD player in the pole room. It works well enough that I can see her lessons right in the pole room!

Her DVD’s are worth every penny, I think!

You lucky devils with the conversion rate, haha! I live IN Australia so the price is the price for me!

I would just get the set! I don’t have it but have seen one of her vids and I think it would be worth getting the whole set! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Hi~ I own the set and all of them were definitely worth every penny. She is an excellent teacher! I had a friend watch a DVD with me and at first she complained that Jamilla talked too much, but once she got to the more advanced stuff my friend quickly changed her tune and praised Jamilla for explaining exactly how to do the moves!

    My DVD arrived yay!

I purchased Vol 3 and I think I made the right choice – as I can do about 40% of the stuff already.

In case anyone else is interested – volume 3 covers covers cupid/princess, superman, straight leg climb, butterfly, shoulder mount preparation, advanced plank, aerial upright V, hello boys (aka venus, V sit), cross ankle release (aka hangback, falling angel), shooting star – as well as some combos / routines to teach transitions between these moves.

So you can use that as a guage when deciding what level to get too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
