Alethea Austin's New DVDs
On her page, she just said that she just finished the back cover this morning...I am sure it will b soon ;)
I havent heard anything more than May 2012. It looks awesome!
She got the final cut just the other day. She was reviewing it and putting her stamp of approval on it. Not sure if it got the grren light or if it needed more work.
The package also missed her in 3 different cities but she was finally able to catch up with it.
She just posted on facebook that she will add the DVDs to her website on monday! ![]()

I ask her last w-e and she didn't want to give me a date because she wasn't sure how long the whole process could take. I can't wait to see it.
Have you seen the scene where she lick the pole in the trailer? She told me she did it because everybody in the room were busy looking at their stuff or phone and didn't pay attention to her![]()
LOL re the lick! She knows how to command a room. Excited for the DVDs to be up for sale, the look STUNNING!!!
@tiggertail-Thanks for sharing that! When I first saw it, I thought "only Alethea could make that look insanely hot!". Makes way more sense now, totally sounds like something she would do!!
I have a reminder on my phone to check her site on Monday, I am DYING to have these!!
I don't know how I'm more excited to get these than I was her last DVD set... but I am so flippin excited!!! <3
Ordered! I would crawl on broken glass to do a floorwork session with her. Hopefully this'll tide me over until I get that chance. :)
Now that is some dedication Polergirl!!! I am hoping this tides you over too.
Just place my order
. Thanks for the notice about availablilty.
Ok, seems like everything is functioning again, I was able to get on and order.
Now my bf is just looking at me like
...
he doesn't understand!! ;P
I have to wait until tomorrow :-(
I ordered, now I just have to be patient enough to wait for it to get to my doorstep. I did a floorwork workshop with Alethea last year, and she is soooo amazing...
ordered! excited!!!!
would some of you who have ordered the dvd post impressions of what the instruction is like? I have seen the preview on her website but it is very short. The preview is like watching her dance but it doesn't give any idea of what h'er instruction is like, how the dvd is laid out, what the specific moves are etc. . Thanks. (I'm very interested, I just want to know more.
Monary, Her web page posted that they will not ship until the 22nd but as soon as the DVDs arrive I am sure a few of us will share feedback. I had great success with her previous DVDs and look forward to these new ones.
Email confirmation went out today that the DVDs are on their way!
Mine are in my city, which means I should get them today, I think. SQUEEEEEEE! Any guesses as to what this pole dancer will be doing over the holiday weekend? ![]()
Im thinking of getting the 4 pack - you cant beat that price. But I may hold off until PoleCon so I can have her sign them for me!
Mine have an expected delivery of tomorrow... hope that the tracking estimate is right on... I would love to get started with these right away!
I'm glad to hear that they contacted you Madfelice, they will be worth the wait!
The 4 pack is an amazing price. You can get them now and take them to PoleCon for signature.
Mine are out for delivery today, can't wait! Knowing my postman I won't get them until 5pm ![]()
Im jealous of you DarlingNikki... I want mine NOW! ;)
@Madfelice, I also ordered the day the DVDs were released and am not finding any e-mail notices about shipment or confirmation of order from the company. Have checked my regular e-mail and spam folders. I have confirmation on my credit card pay history that I ordered and paid.
I ordered mine the day they were up on the website. I have received an email notice of the invoice and shipping invoice, but its not a trackable shipment, so I won't know when they will actually get here. If you signed onto the site to complete your order, I think you can check there for invoice, but I am sure that if the credit card was billed it will ship out.
I got a shipping email yesterday!
Madfelice, you're not alone. I ordered the first day they were available and received an email yesterday that they will be shipped next wednesday. So they're gonna be here in ...um 2-3 weeks? ![]()
You girls, who already got their dvds are so lucky^^
@chiffon- Just went to the Alethea Austion website. There is a "Contact Us" section where you can e-mail the company. I just did, informing them that I have a receipt for payment but no e-mail notices about order confirmation or shipment notices. It will work itself out and we will get out DVDs.....just may take a few "friendly reminders" : )
@chiffon-I have already recieved an e-mail response from the aletha austin website - confirmed my order plus date it went out in the mail.
I am stalking the USPS website. Mine are out for delivery!! Can't wait!!
I got mine today. I was so dissappointed. The box came and the seal, I assume didn't seal and the post office had put a rubberband around it. I took off the rubberband and only 1 of the 4 box set was still left inside.
I really like them so far, with one key observation: I would have liked more instruction breakdown and less "watch me (or Tiffany Hayden) do this." I can do that on YouTube, KWIM? The breakdown she does have is good and helpful so I wish there were more.
So far I've gone through the whole fundamentals DVD and have started on the floorwork one.
@chiffon - This is not good news : (
Mine did arrive in the mail on Sat. (Yesterday.) Hope you get yours soon!
So ladies that got the DVDs - What do you think???
The floorwork DVD has better/more content, IMO. Certain tiny little tips were REALLY helpful.
All in all I'm SUPER glad I got them because no one does floorwork like her, and I think her fundamentals are fantastically sexy. I don't know that these DVDs will change my world but no regrets at all on buying them!
Bought the floorwork DVD. Browsed through it once, clicking on the different chapters. I really like it. Alethea breaks down some moves that seem basic to us but gives special tips on how to position legs, ankles, feet, so you can sharpen up the move with details you may have never thought. She moves on to more complicated floor work as well. Great instructions on variations for "flirty leg twirls," which I love, so I appreciate all the details! In the different chapters Alethea wears different outfits and with every new outfit is new color of Glitter heals ![]()
I am extremely happy with my purchase of these DVDs and the content in them. I feel each one has moves that are appropriate for both beginner and more advanced dancers. Every dancer, regardless of skill level, can revisit and perfect their fundamentals. I have done both DVDs and will continue to use them.
An example of the progression of skill level in the DVDs for the Sexy Fundamentals DVD is starting out with ankle strengthening exercises for heels and then the DVD also progressing through handstand variations. The Floorwork DVD also has movements for all skill levels. I like also how she has Tiffany Hayden demonstrate some of the moves so you can see how a different dancer will incorporate her personal style on the moves.
The packaging is beautiful. They use very artistic lighting and camera angles. I would have preferred an option to have voice only instruction on the DVD so I could hear her instruction clearly without any background music. (If it is there I was unable to find it). There are some volume fluctuations in the volume between voice and non voice segments. That would not keep me from purchasing the DVDs again, the dance content (what I bought them for) is excellent.
I look forward to improving my basics, flow, handstands and floorwork with these DVDs as tools in my toolbox!
Yes, MemphisKitten, I have Felix DVDs. Fantastic series! Loaded with information and demos of moves from beginner to advanced. ![]()
I've just received the DVDs of Alethea (4 set) and I am quite happy with them and the content. Much has been already quoted by some of you, so I will not elaborate on that. What I really have difficulties is the heavy metal music on the background: it gives me headaches.... it's a pity because not everybody likes such a music. For me poling is so fun that the music is a major part of the pleasure....
The glitterheel shoes are fantastic. I will definately order 1-2 pairs....
I am sorry to hear that you haven't received them. I've paid on Friday and got them yesterday. It was a swift delivery. You can contact Patti at this email address, she is dealing with the orders. And good luck!!! gismoe59@gmail.com
Patti contacted me and mailed the dvd's that were missing. She was glad that I had mentioned how my packaging arrived the first time. The second package came with it sealed with packaging tape. The second package came right away.
The dvd's are awesome!
great to have the option of no music.
Finally got mine yesterday, haven't watched floorwork yet but wow, I was just sitting with my mouth open for most of it
How is the shipping packaging labelled? AletheaAustin.com?
See, I like the music! Most workout or instructional DVD's have generic, electronic New Age-y kind of music that I personally find really grating, so I turn the sound down once I've written down the directions, so I can glance down when I see the instructor talking and know what they're saying. These videos are a RELIEF because I can turn the music UP and it actually inspires me to freestyle once I've put the combos together and add my own flair! Each to their own taste, though. Still, it's nice to have videos that reflect MY tastes for a change--it's very rare.![]()
maurer rose--I can't recall if her url is on the package, but her name def. is.
Maybe. I haven't decided yet. I might just wait a few more months until people start reselling them.
I love reading all your comments about the DVDs...it's like a tease while I wait for mine to come in the mail. Proud to say I wrote the description on the back of the floorwork DVD! Yay Journalism degree, haha. :-)
I am really bummed to hear that the music can not be turned off. I have her first 2 DVDs and I've only opened the 'Pure Splits' DVD and I've watched a PART of it only once. Honestly, the music gave me a horrid headache and I can't listen to it. I didn't want to open the 'Stretching For Pole' becasue I figured it would be the same music. I know that I am a 'fuddy-duddy' when it comes to music but it seems like there are at least a few other people who agree with me. As much as I would LOVE to get the new DVDs, after hearing about the music on them, I will not be purchasing them. If there was a way to turn off the music, I would abolutely buy them.
I'm thinking of getting the floorwork dvd's - does anyone know if you can get them from a UK based website?
Totally agree about the music. I just like listening to my own music when I'm stretching and it would be nice to do floorwork to your own choice of songs. Would love to have an option so you can turn it off if you want to too
@HannahElizabeth, I dont think anyone in England is selling these ones . X pole Uk only sell the two stretching ones. I got mine from Alethes site, both floorwork and sexy fundamentals for around £50 including p&p and they only took about a week to arrive :)
if ur interested? I'm in the UK 2 x
I just received my DVDs last wednesday! I actually never received a tracking email? I wasn't sure if tracking emails were sent or not aha I had ordered them June 28th so it was just under 2 weeks for mine to arrive in Ontario...it should be less time for Texas
I got a tracking email in 3 days. Shipping was extremely quick... Unfortunately I had them shipped to my parents' house and didn't get to watch them for another 3 weeks!
I finally got to check these out and I must say I really was hypnotised by them! Lots of good tips on techniques. I pride myself on a great body wave from years of bellydance but seeing how she broke hers down made me see the little things about her wave that are so distinctive & pole-specific.
Both DVDs are nicely lit & art-directed. I can't wait to try out the moves for myself. There are two choreographies on each DVd for you to follow.
The music is not really my style but it definitley got me in the mood for some Alethea-specific moves. PS- the Glitterheels are rockin'.
Hello Everyone,
If you remember I've promised to convey the feedback to Alethea especially about the music in her DVDs.
I've sent an email to Patti, the person who is taking care of the orders, as I did not have Alethea's one. In my email, I've copied & pasted 6 valuable anonymous feedbacks (very positive) with the suggestions provided by some of you regarding the music.
Here below you will find my email (without the feedbacks) and the personal response from Alethea. I thought it would be interesting for you to inform you about.
I've recently purchased the set of 4 DVDs and should say that I am very happy with the quality content. Without any doubt, these products are of a high value. The background music is not really my favorite, but Ok, I will do my best to go beyond that and enjoy the content. That's why I've purchased them.
First of all, I thought I am the only one who does not like the music, but then I found that there are other Polers in the same case.
Finally, I took my courage to write you and provide you spontaneously some collected feedbacks which I had through a on-line forum, because I tought it would be interesting for you to know how your products are perceived so that eventually you can make an adjustment in the future (as I guess now it's too late for those we already bought).
Here below you will find the feedbacks.
I thank you very much for your time and trust they are helpful.
Alethea's response:
Hi Milena,
Sorry it took me so long to write you back, Patti showed me this email a while ago and it has been on my constant to do list.
First off I want to thank you so much for taking the courage to write this and send constructive feedback in a very nice way. I really really appreciate it and yes I did read it.
Doing a DVD is very hard and has so many layers, I do it all in house myself and try and make it the best most artistic representation i can. I really thought of these DVDs a a full art piece, something that is more inspirational then it is educational. It is hard for me to watch and follow ant instructional dvd over and over, i made these Something girls could watch over and over and be constantly learning just by visually having it on in the background.I always assumed in doing that that the volume would be down and each individual would be free to listen to whatever they want.
My main goal for presenting and pressing the dvds was to not be generic and to stay close and true to what I like. It is very hard to find good music from unsigned bands and also help support grass roots music by paying them for their songs and time and giving them exposure, and though i would have liked a little more variety, I really connected with Lord and decided to give them a go. I feel very strongly about NOT using Internet Muzac. I realize that it might be a little heavy for everyone and thank you so much for your suggestion about having a without sound version. I had asked for that initially and then that step got lost in the authoring process, not sure why maybe the cost, I would have to go back and look. I front all of the Dvds myself. In the future i will def make an effort to include that step.
But for now feel free to mute me and the band ;) You really can tell and pick up on what I am doing just from letting the dvd play in the background while you practice, most of the movements need a lot of repetition to get.
Thanks again xo
Alethea

To end my message, I want to say that meanwhile, I've already worked with her last DVDs (Floorwork & Sensual Fundamentals" with the music "mute" and I am learning by watching. Her moves are stunning and worth to be integrated in my style.
Have a fantastic day!
Just had to throw in my two cents about these DVD's. Shipping was insanely fast for me, I ordered friday afternoon and got them the following monday morning. I have gone through the pure splits 3 times and the stretching for pole 2 times now and WOW! So much improvement!!! I have never been able to do the splits and last night I was only an inch off the ground in both my left and right splits. This is amazingly exciting for me! I know in my next session or two I will definitely have them flat.
I also have really bad back problems and have ever since I was a teenager and following her stretching videos my back pain has comepletely dissappeared! It's wonderful!
I'm just starting to go over her sexy fundamentals and will probably add in floorwork later this week. I really love her sexy fundamentals, it's easy to follow and is an amazing tool to help anyone be a better dancer. It really focuses on fluidity and creating lines with the body.
So anyone on the fence about it I say you should definitely get them! As to the music, I really like it and I think it totally matches Alethea's sexy rocker style but it could easily be muted and you can play your own music. I've even paused my dvd several times to sit in some of my stretches a little longer than she does :)
I'll ask here instead of making a new thread.....
What Alethea dvd[s] would you gals suggest for someone who doesn't have a pole at home?
I can get all of them really but i want to make sure i can put them all to use.
I just don't want to be dissapointed if i spend the money only for it requires a pole that i don't have. I'm hoping for xmas to have a pole but until then i want to work on stuff at home sans pole for class once a week. Thanks!
@Little Engine - Floorwork for sure would be useful without a pole.
I kind of want to say pure splits also because there are a lot of good stretches without the pole. Out of the whole 50minutes there is one stretch near the beginning that lasts about 30 seconds that uses the pole and then at the end from about 43 minutes to 49 minutes are more stretches on the pole.
PS There are warm up kicks in the beginning for about 2 minutes using the pole but I feel like someone could probably do this in a door way
When I go to my parents' house, which doesn't have a pole, I bring along my Pure Splits and Floorwork DVDs. The floorwork DVD is amazing for those without a pole, since you will get a head start on your floorwork once you get your pole, and you will have an easier time transitioning between moves. I feel silly doing floorwork but this is my first choice if you don't have a pole.
I was able to do Pure Splits without a pole also. You can adjust for the few moves that are on the pole. The stretches at the end that do use a pole are include splits on the pole and oversplits training. I use a wall and hold on to a chair for the pole splits... Not pretty at all haha but it's better than nothing. I cannot do the oversplits so I skip those exercises.
The first half of Stretching for Pole does not utilize the pole and consists of leg stretches. I find them helpful when I'm not trying to intensely stretch my legs. All the back stretches except for the cobra use the pole. Like joscelynsmom said, they can be adapted to a door frame.
Thanks ladies for the info!
I ordered her Floorworks dvd and her hoodie yesterday and its already shipped this morning. Talk about fast!
CA to PA, please go fast!
Just had to update! I went through Pure splits again last night. It will be my 6th time doing one of her stretching DVD's (3 on stretching for pole and 3 on pure splits). I did the splits for the first time EVER!! I am so happy! I have never seen such quick results and I feel amazing - no aches or soreness. Thank you Alethea!!!
UPDATE: My package went from CA to PA in 2 DAYS! She shipped it priority mail which i totally wasn't expecting. Usually the USPS takes like 5 days for that distance. Nope! Rocket speed!
I am beyond thrilled right now to be rockin her hoodie {which fits like a glove} and will be trying her floorwork dvd once i get out of class today. WooHOO!![]()
THANK YOU ALETHEA AUSTIN! ![]()
