I think that everyone I know knows that I pole dance. I was so excited when I started that I told everybody about it, people at work, my friends and family. And its no secret at allt. To me its no different then any other sport or dance. Most people are just supportive and happy for me for doing what I love. I dont see anything wrong with poledancing so if anyone else thinks that there is something wrong with it and that im doing it, then its just really not my problem.
Yeh good point. I wish I could be so open like that. I just get tired of doing the "Explanation dance" with people..BOOOO!

Maybe theyre just trying to annoy you? My boyfriend and few other people used to say stripper practice. I just got tired of saying no its pole fitness/dance not strip. He would say things like,, Are you going to a stripper practise? I just got used to it and said yes and stopped correcting it. I know he knows its not strip
I think some people are just trying to be funny saying that

Re: FB vs pole torn
Ok good point. A funy thing happened the other day when my pole arrived at my house....
I was supposed to be on a play date with my daughter and neighbor. Well because i was putting up my pole I was sooooo beyond late. I told my husband to go over there and take my daughter with him so they don't wonder where we were. He went to the neighbor's house and for some reason they wanted to come over my house. Well low and behold when the neighbor came into our house ( my pole is in my living room smack in front of the television) His eyes popped out! He was like " are you a tripper?" I was like no silly I'm a stay at home mom silly. He said "I don't judge this is your house" but he looked ashamed. Then his daughter asked him "daddy what is that" and he said " oh that's her stripper pole honey" I laughed my a$$ of and was like, "um no honey it's a dance fittness pole kinda like the fire man has" C'mon guy she's 3!!!

Re: FB vs pole torn
I have a personal facebook page and a House of Pole page and that's more than enough for me LOL.
I think since I'm in the business of pole it's so closely linked to my personal life that I kind of need the two to be intertwined. I've gotten lots of leads and sales from family and friends who know somebody that knows somebody that wants to know about pole and they all know I do it so they send them my way. Plus my personal page has become 90% polers too anyway so....my real life family and friends just gotta squeeze in there when they can LOL.
Plus I like sharing what I do with my family and friends. I too have my pole pics set up so that not everyone can see them. I'm not ashamed of what I do but my Dad and Grandpa aren't really interested in seeing me on a pole in 6 inch heels so I spare them that visual. LOL

Yup, that was me. A word of advice for you all: make sure the people viewing your pole pictures are supportive of your poling. What happened with me was that I thought my pole pictures were friends only, because I only had about a dozen friends on there and all of them already knew I poled and were fine with it, but there was a pic of me doing a CKR that was actually viewable to the public, and someone on a friend's friend list flagged it. It was a big hassle; FB deactivated my account for a week, then just a day and a half after it was reactivated, the photo was flagged again, by the same person, I'm sure. It then took me two weeks of contacting FB to even get a reply from them, only to be informed that I was permanently banned from FB for posting 'pornographic content.' I was in just a regular bathing suit, and not doing anything in violation of their policy.
Just keep in mind that if your photo gets flagged, Facebook does NOT review the situation even though it says they do in the form letter they send you. If someone decides they are offended by your pole pictures and reports you, there's a chance you could get kicked off, even though you're not in violation of their actual policy. It seems as though FB's policy is deactivate your account on the first offense, then ban you if someone happens to flag you again.
I'll be making up a new account whenever I get around to it, but I'm thinking maybe I should have two as well, and strictly just have pole dancers on one page and everybody else on my other. At the very least, I'm going to be very careful to make sure my pole pictures really are all friends only this time.

Re: FB vs pole torn
slightly off topic..... fb privacy settings.....
i'm only just starting to put up photos but have poler friends and wall chats about pole. I had all my settings on 'friends only'. I'm a high school teacher and although i'm happy with poling, and my boss and colleagues know about it ,i'm not prepared for my pupils and their parents to know! A friend's new gf looked me up and could see some of my pics - she isn't one of my fb friends. SO.... if you want to keep things private check that your 'profile pics' are also listed as private. It isn't one of the main options. if you 'customise' your settings, its the 'edit album privacy' link (really small at the bottom of the first section).

Re: FB vs pole torn
I just have the one account. I'm pretty selective on who is on my FB because it has my family and close friends. There are people on there from SV but its mostly people I've known for a long time and talked to for over a year through SV. I will sometimes block my Dad and some of the male family members from videos I feel are a little too risque, but other than that- I have all my pics open for sharing. My thoughts are, you can either like it or don't look at it.
