He is dedicated to preserving the artistry of pole dance while delivering stringent and safe instruction in pole technique and flexibility training to pole dancers of all skill levels ranging from beginners to titled competitors and he is also passionate about the training of pole instructors. He has earned the second ranked title in the United States for two years consecutively through the American Pole Fitness Association. David is also a correspondent for Pole Spin Magazine and is one of the North American representatives on the board of the International Pole Fitness Federation. He is a valued contributor to the pole dance community at home in Las Vegas where he instructs at Shine Alternative Fitness, and also maintains an active travel schedule giving performances and classes in countless locations.
1.)Flexibility Training for Pole Dancing
Along with increased flexibility comes increased freedom of movement for pole dancers. The more flexible one becomes, the greater number of advanced holds one becomes capable of, and the more one begins to generate beautiful and awe-worthy lines and postures. All pole dancers covet increased flexibility, and in this workshop, David will teach the methods that he uses in his own flexibility training. Dancers will receive an introduction to back-bending and learn how to make the spine more pliable while also opening the hips. Following this, David will teach you how to perform the Proprioreceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (or PNF) method on yourself to help safely and quickly see increases in muscular flexibility to help develop beautiful extensions and splits. Some partner-based stretching techniques will also be explained and demonstrated. Following this, some techniques for performing flexibility-based poses on the pole will be discussed and practiced.
2.)Fundamentals of Inversion
Pole dancers of many backgrounds and skill levels often continue to lack confidence in the techniques they use to perform inverts, or are unsure about the correct methods for performing basic inverted holds. In this class, David will explain, demonstrate, and personally walk you through the hand placement, body mechanics, and physics of the basic invert, the tuck invert, and the inverted V, from the floor as well as from higher on the pole. David will discuss with you the muscle groups involved in performing these skills, how the muscles operate in tandem to execute them, and how to strengthen in order to improve their execution. We will continue thereafter to discuss how to enter a variety of hands-free inverted holds on the pole, how to beautify these poses, and how to use understanding of physics and the mechanics of your body to make them very secure.
Workshop 1 at 2pm, workshop 2 at 4pm. You must pre-register/pre-pay for these workshops. These workshops are open to anyone 18 and older!
Cost is $45 per person per workshop
